Screams have been heard and popcorn has been spilled in many-a-movie-theater, that's for sure. Now, it's time get on vocal rest and get ready to howl some more, because 2025 is going to be another major year for horror. No, we're not just talking about films that are dropping around Halloween. Spine-chilling thrillers are sprinkled throughout the year, many of which have cinephiles excited.
From the end of The Conjuring film franchise and the revival of a few cult classic slashers, to the M3gan sequel and a star-studded rendition of a Stephen King masterpiece—there's a lot in store for moviegoers looking for a good scare. Wolf Man

This reboot of the 1941 horror classic follows a family that gets into a car accident after getting attacked by an unseen animal. They run, and decide to barricade themselves in a remote farmhouse for safety. But after, they discover that the father was infected by the creature, and as more time passes, he begins to behave strangely. His gradual transformation then endangers his family.

This psychological thriller is something of a twisted love story. It all begins with a billionaire's death, which leads to a violent chain of events after Iris (Sophie Thatcher) and her friends decide to go on a weekend trip to the deceased's lakeside estate.

The Monkey

The Monkey is based on Stephen King's short story of the same title. As kids, twin brothers Bill and Hal find their father's old toy monkey in the attic. After they find the toy, however, a series of strange and morbid deaths ensue. The brothers decide to get rid of the toy and move on with their lives. But after decades, it reappears and wreaks havoc in their lives once more.

However, her lovely evening soon turns into a nightmare when she gets bombarded with messages from a mysterious texter who threatens to kill her son and her sister if she doesn't kill her date.
Final Destination: Bloodlines

Final Destination is back after 14 years! The film is going to feature Tony Todd, who will be reprising his role as William Bludworth, the harbinger of death in the Final Destination films. Franchise creator Jeffrey Reddick said in an interview with Bloody Disgusting that the film would focus on Bludworth's backstory and what exactly connects him to death. But if you're expecting the film to follow the same formula as the previous five films, you've got another thing coming. Reddick reportedly revealed that this movie would be different from the others.

Twin brothers try to leave their trauma-filled, troubled lives behind with one of them deciding to return to their hometown and start again. But when Smoke settles in, a greater evil than he's ever seen before finds him.
28 Years Later

Aaron Taylor-Johnson leads the cast (also featuring Cillian Murphy and Jodie Comer) in this post-apocalyptic horror film set 28 years after the rage virus escaped from a biological weapons laboratory and took over the Earth. A group of survivors manage to live on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-guarded road. When one of the survivors ventures out into the mainland, he discovers a virus mutation that has spread not only among the infected, but has spread to other survivors as well.

Among the original cast, Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. have been confirmed to reprise their roles as Julie James and Ray Bronson.
Insidious 6

Not much has been revealed about the sixth installment to the Insidious film series, but it's going to continue the storyline of the main franchise. Separately, Sony will also be releasing a spinoff film called Threads: An Insidious Tale, which will be starring Mandy Moore and Kumail Nanjiani. The release date for Threads is still TBD.
The Conjuring: Last Rites

This movie marks the end of an era, as it is the final installment to The Conjuring film series. Paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) take on one last terrifying case, another story from the Warren's case files that will surely force the couple to confront both literal and figurative demons.
Saw XI

After a year-long delay from its original set release date, the eleventh installment of the Saw franchise is finally coming to theaters. Tobin Bell will be reprising his role as the serial killer called Jigsaw a.k.a. John Kramer, the terminally ill cancer patient who decides to put his victims through twisted games and immense pain in order to "enlighten" them and make them appreciate what they have.
The Bride!

Set in 1930s Chicago, this film follows the creation of The Bride of Frankenstein. Christian Bale will be playing Frankenstein's monster opposite Jessie Buckley as The Bride in this film written, directed, and produced by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Other stars that will be appearing in the film include Annette Benning, Penélope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard. Oh, and expect some singing and dancing in the film as well.
The Black Phone 2

Ethan Hawke returns to the big screen as The Grabber in this follow-up to the 2022 horror film The Black Phone. The exact details of the plot are still under wraps, but we're sure it's going to be another frighteningly good watch.
