The 11 Best Watches at the Emmys, From Jeremy Allen White’s Vacheron to Robert Downey Jr.’s Jaeger-LeCoultre

The second Emmys ceremony of 2024 was full of surprises. Shōgun became the first non-English language series to win for best drama, Hacks beat out The Bear to win best comedy series, and the highly controversial Baby Reindeer took home four awards.

The outfits at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday evening were slightly less surprising. Traditional formalwear ruled the red carpet, with most gents opting for classic suits and fail-safe dress watches. There’s no need to reinvent the sartorial wheel, after all. (We did appreciate Lionel Boyce’s bold Odd Future look and Dan Levy’s avant-garde Loewe ensemble, though.)

Omega, the Swiss watchmaker of choice throughout this awards season, dominated television’s biggest night, with five fellas wearing Seamasters, De Ville Tresors, and the like. Other horological heavyweights were represented, too. Taika Waititi and Hiroyuki Sanada showed off IWC Portugiesers, Eugene Levy and Robert Downey Jr. flexed Jaeger-LeCoultre Reversos, while Antony Starr and Taylor Zakhar wore pieces by Vacheron Constantin.

Jeremy Allen White: Vacheron Constantin Patrimony

Jeremy Allen White took home the Emmy for best actor in a comedy for his role in The Bear, and he did so wearing the wonderful, current model Vacheron Constantin Patrimony at 39 mm in white gold. The rose gold accents create a subtle two-tone scheme here, and it’s just enough to give the vintage-styled watch a fantastic retro look. We’re all for the combo. This timepiece is understatement defined, with a gorgeous in-house movement and a muted green alligator strap. It costs $25,200.

Hiroyuki Sanada: IWC Portugieser Automatic 42

Hiroyuki Sanada made history at the 2024 Emmys with an IWC on his wrist. The Shōgun star, who became the first Japanese actor to win outstanding actor in a drama series, wore a Portugieser Automatic 42 (Ref. IW501707) to last night’s ceremony. Priced at $26,700, the timepiece features a 42.4 mm gold case, a black dial with two subdails, and a black alligator strap by Santoni.

Jonathan Bailey: Omega De Ville Prestige

Jonathan Bailey, nominated for his performance in Fellow Travelers, looked impossibly suave on Sunday, rocking a Giorgio Armani tuxedo with a chic, silk shirt and a sleek, steel Omega timepiece. Priced at $4,600, the De Ville Prestige showcases a 40 mm stainless steel case, a black, sun-brushed dial with gold accents, and a black leather strap.

Eugene Levy: Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute

The Levys once again demonstrated their impeccable taste at the Emmys, with Dan donning a striking Loewe look and Eugene sporting a classic suit with a chic Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece. The Reverso Tribute Monoface Small Seconds features a 45.6 mm pink gold case and a silver sunray dial. The reverse side can be personalized with a date, motif, initials, etc. The $22,700 watch also comes with two interchangeable straps that allow the wearer to switch up styles.

Matt Bomer: Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades

Matt Bomer, nominated for his turn in Fellow Travelers, wore multiple shades of red on the red carpet, pairing a custom, plum-colored Brioni ensemble with a pink-dialed Omega watch. Priced at $6,600, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades showcases a 34 mm stainless steel case, a matching steel bracelet, and a brass dial in that beautiful blush hue.

Antony Starr: Vacheron Constantin Fiftysix Day-Date

Antony Starr of The Boys showed the other boys how to appropriately watch up, wearing an elegant Vacheron Constantin to the ceremony on Sunday. Paying tribute to a vintage VC model from 1956, the FiftySix Day-Date features a 40 mm pink gold case with lugs inspired by the sides of the Maltese cross. The silver-toned dial displays the power reserve and day and date indicators, while the open-worked caseback reveals the striking movement. It’ll set you back $44,500.

Jack Lowden: Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades

Jack Lowden, nominated for his performance in Slow Horses, looked as sharp as a secret agent on Sunday, sporting custom Louis Vuitton and an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades. Priced at $6,600, the timepiece features a 34 mm stainless steel case, a brass dial with a sandstone, sun-brushed finish, and a steel bracelet.

Robert Downey Jr.: Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface

Another red carpet, another Jaeger-LeCoultre for Robert Downey Jr. The Oppenheimer star, who is “a friend of the maison” and oft wears its designs, sported the new Reverso Tribute Duoface at Sunday’s soiree. Paying homage to the first Reversos from the 1930s, the swiveling timepiece features a 47 mm pink gold case and not one but two dials. The front face is finished in an eye-catching blue hue that took 50 production stages and 20 coats of lacquer to perfect, while the reverse side is striking silver. Equipped with the in-house caliber 854, the nifty piece also displays a second time zone. The Reverso costs $25,500, but it is ostensibly two watches in one.

Taylor Zakhar Perez: Vacheron Constantin Patrimony

Red, White & Royal Blue star Taylor Zakhar Perez went monochromatic for Sunday’s ceremony, pairing an all-black Gucci look with a black-strapped Vacheron Constantin Patrimony. Inspired by the designs of the 1950s, the watch showcases a 39 mm pink gold case and a silver-toned sunburst dial with a circular minute track made of gold pearls. Priced at $25,200, the wrist candy usually comes fitted with an azure strap but Perez’s is a custom black design.

Aaron Moten: Omega De Ville Tresor

Fallout star Aaron Moten stood out among the sea of tailored suits on Sunday, pairing a bright-red Kenzo look with an understated Omega watch. The De Ville Tresor in question, which is sadly no longer available via the Swiss watchmaker, showcases a 40 mm gold case, a silvery opaline dial with a domed vintage clous de Paris structure, and a brown leather strap.

Taika Waititi: IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar

Taika Waititi absolutely nailed classic black tie attire. The New Zealand native, whose shows Reservation Dogs and What We Do in the Shadows were both nominated, paired a brown velvet Brunello Cucinelli tuxedo jacket and contrasting white trousers with a dapper bow tie and a black IWC wristwatch. Unveiled at Watches and Wonders earlier this year, the Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 44 (Ref. IW503702) features a 44.4 mm gold case, an obsidian black dial with four subdials, and a black alligator strap by Santoni. It will run you $46,500.
