Zach Bryan apologizes for Taylor Swift and Kanye West post: 'Don't drink and tweet!'
"I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often. Hope one day I can explain this to her.”
Zach Bryan has learned that drinks and social media don’t mix.
The country singer drew swift backlash online on Wednesday after he fired off a post on X (formerly Twitter) declaring that "Eagles > Chiefs" and that "Kanye > Taylor." He concluded, “Who’s with me?”
Certainly not Swifties. The post received heavy criticism from the “Karma” singer’s fanbase, especially since Taylor Swift has a historically difficult past with Kanye West — and her current boyfriend, Travis Kelce, is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Bryan has since deleted his X account.
He also apologized for the incident in a lengthy statement on his Instagram Story on Thursday, which included a screenshot of Swift’s song “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. “For the record guys I wasn’t coming for Taylor the other night,” Bryan wrote. “I was drunkenly comparing two records and it came out wrong.’
The “I Remember Everything” singer also appeared to acknowledge both the longstanding feud between West and Swift that stretches back to the 2009 VMAs as well as West’s multiple controversies over the years, writing, “I know there’s a lot of stuff that clouds around Ye and I was speaking purely musically. I love Taylor’s music and pray you guys know I’m human and tweet stupid things often. Hope one day I can explain this to her.”
He continued, “Twitter gets me in trouble too much and I’d say it’s best I stay off it. I’m sorry to any Taylor fans I pissed off or let down. Love you guys and I’m trying my best!”

In subsequent Story posts, each accompanied by a screenshot of a different Swift song, Bryan explained that he’s “been going through a hard time in my own life and I think I was projecting a little” with his X post.
“To be completely honest, it just came off as rude and desensitized to Taylor,” he wrote. “I respect her so much as a musician that the last thing I want is people thinking I don’t appreciate and love what she has done for music. Love you guys and hope you guys understand. Don’t drink and tweet. Don’t drink and tweet!!”

The Grammy-winner, who is currently on his Quittin Time Tour and set to play Bourbon & Beyond festival on Saturday, said that he plans to “take a breather from tweeting stupid stuff, finish my tour, and somehow ground myself in the midst of all this” moving forward.
“I feel very, very blessed each day,” he concluded. “Not taking it for granted and holding onto it has been so important to me. Okay, needed to get this off my chest, y’all are the best and I’ll see you at Bourbon and Beyond.”
