Wine-infused coffee: The best invention ever
There are no barriers in the culinary world when it comes to fusing foreign smells or flavours into foods and drinks.
While wine-infused coffee sounds like a strange combination, it is in fact genius for those who may be torn between another glass of wine, or a comforting cup of coffee post dinner.
The boozy infusion occurs when the coffee beans are aged in oak wine barrels. As they age, the beans pick up merlot tones, resulting in a full-bodied coffee with hints of blackberry and currants.
According to Spoon University, the beans immediately smell of wine when you open the packet, but when pressed, the coffee is rich with an aftertaste of red wine.

It’s recommended to take the brew black with a bit of sugar, as adding milk or cream will only dilute the wine infusion, making it taste more like a fruity coffee, Spoon University says.
For caffeine and wine lovers, merlot coffee is the best thing to happen to their mornings.
While there isn’t actually alcohol in the coffee, the thought of having a sneaky dash of wine in your morning cuppa, especially on those stressful mornings, could go a long way.
But, if you’re afraid to whip out the boozy coffee in the AM - think about making a merlot coffee affogato for dessert… Now your talking.
