Ariana Grande has shared that Wicked features a cameo from a Sex and the City star you wouldn't be able to guess on a first watch.

As reported by Variety, the commentary included in the home version of the musical adaptation sees Grande, her co-star Cynthia Erivo and director Jon M Chu sharing lots of Wicked secrets.

It turns out that a long-running Sex and the City star voiced one of the characters in a brief on-screen appearance.

It's none other than David Eigenberg, who's known to SATC fans for playing Miranda Hobbes' now ex-husband Steve Brady.

In Wicked, Eigenberg voiced the Tamarin Monkey, a character who has the line "a solicitor was sacked just for arguing a case" before 'Something Bad' starts.

"He has one line, and it's the best line in the whole thing," Grande said of the cameo, adding: "You were great on 20 seasons of Sex and the City."

But not everyone managed to bag a cameo in one of the hottest musical movies of last year.

Chu shared that Lin-Manuel Miranda, with whom he had worked on the adaptation of In the Heights, was really keen to play the Munchkin who famously asks Glinda: "Is it true you were her friend?"

"I got many calls from Lin. He might have even tweeted about it," Chu recalled, though he ultimately decided against it as he felt it would be "too distracting".

"Sorry, Lin!" he added.

Wicked is out now in cinemas, and is also available to buy or rent from Prime Video, iTunes, Microsoft Store and more.
