Why One Man's Beach Proposal Caused Couples to Bicker — The Reason Will Surprise You! ‘So Many Arguments Witnessed’
A beach proposal sign led to confusion and conflict because every couple who walked past it thought it was set up for them
One beach proposal set up caused quite a stir on a Thailand beach.
A video shared by @MrDaveGibson via TikTok on Jan. 17 showed how a beach proposal sign accidentally led to confusion and conflict between couples passing by.
"Wedding proposal NIGHTMARE!!!!" the TikToker wrote in an on-screen caption. "Someone set up a 'Will You Marry Me' sign on our beach and every couple that walked past thought it was for them 😂."
He added in the post's caption: "So many holidays ruined by a very late wedding proposal."
The proposal took place on a beach in Krabi, Thailand. In the clips, many different couples walk past the light-up sign surrounded by a giant heart-shaped arch backdrop and countless white roses. Everyone eyed the elaborate setup with mixed reactions, with most women looking more hopeful than their nervous boyfriends.
"It was there for about three hours and I've never seen so many guys sweating and trying not to panic in one afternoon," @MrDaveGibson continued in his post.

He zoomed in on one man and woman having a romantic photoshoot directly opposite of the "Will You Marry Me?" sign. "There's absolutely NO WAY this poor woman didn't think that was for her!!!" he said.
In the comments section, he clarified that many of the couples appeared to fight over the situation when they found out the engagement wasn't planned for them.
"SO many arguments witnessed 😂," he commented.

His post currently has nearly 300,000 views. But it wasn't his first video of the proposal that has gone viral. On Jan. 3, the same user posted another video of the proposal setup, in which he asked people on the platform to help him find the couple who got engaged.
"My wife can't be the only one who if she spots a potential marriage proposal, the whole holiday comes to a halt until she witnesses it and cries, even though it's two total strangers!" the man wrote in an onscreen caption, adding, "We're gonna come watch."
In the video, which has 2.5 million views, the TikToker's wife is told that the proposal was scheduled for 6 p.m., but it ended up taking place later than anticipated.
It's presumably while the husband and wife were waiting to watch the proposal that they saw the reactions of everyone else who walked past the set-up.
While it is unknown whether or not the TikToker was able to find the couple, the proposal was a clear success with the bride-to-be excitedly jumping up and down and embracing the groom-to-be in the video after saying yes.
