Caitlyn Jenner one year on: "I miss Bruce"

Nearly a year ago, on April 24, Bruce Jenner admitted to US TV host Diane Sawyer, "I am a woman." Now, after transitioning her name, appearance and gender, Caitlyn Jenner has confirmed what ex-wife Kris Jenner said months ago—that she misses the man she "kind of threw out the door." Said Jenner, 66, on a recent episode of her reality-TV show I am Cait, "He was a very good person. . . sometimes I feel like maybe he didn't deserve to be gone."

Still, in her first 12 months as Caitlyn, Jenner's regrets are few and far between. She recently played in her first golf tournament as a woman, saying "my breasts are really good for putting", is a face of H&M, has a lipstick partnership with MAC and is going to be a grandmother again, thanks to daughter Casey Marino's just-confirmed third pregnancy. "For the first time in my life, I don't feel like I'm waking up in the morning lying," she said in March, remembering she was recently getting ready to go out, and "I thought, 'My God. . .I'm actually happy."

Are the rest of her Kardashian/Jenner family as happy? Caitlyn was front and centre when the clan gathered in New York for on March 11 for Kanye West's fashion launch, and while ex-wife Kris Jenner, 60, has said Caitlyn "left us in the dust", the former couple, who share daughters Kendall, 20, and Kylie, 18, "get along very well," said Caitlyn. "We had 23 great years." As Kris told WHO, "It's a process. We're still family. We still have kids together."

She also has admirers in high places, with President Obama praising her "courage", and Elton John inviting her to his Oscars bash. When she left that for Vanity Fair's party, she hung with instant pal Lady Gaga and a source says they "were acting like there was no-one else in the room." She also has friends in the LGBTI community and her "bravery" has changed the global conversation, advocate Candis Cayne, Caitlyn's BFF, tells WHO: "Everyone in the world knows her name. She just wants to get it right. She's starting to walk the walk."
