Things are getting a bit too close for comfort on The White Lotus.
If fans didn’t already sense an unsettling dynamic between brothers Lochlan and Saxon Ratliff — played by Sam Nivola and Patrick Schwarzenegger, respectively — on the Mike White drama, they certainly feel it now. Episode 5 of the hit HBO drama's third season, which aired on Sunday, March 16, saw things take an incestuous turn between the two.
While partying on the mainland with fellow White Lotus guest Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) and her new friend Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon), the four took a mystery pill, which ultimately led to a trippy after-party on Chloe’s yacht.

One thing led to another, and Chloe and Chelsea ended up making out in front of the boys before Lochlan went in for a kiss of his own with Chloe.
Saxton threw his hands up in the air after making it his mission to help his little brother lose his virginity before they return home. But then, the women suggested the siblings share a kiss.
Lochlan obliged and gave Saxon a peck, before leaning back in and grabbing his brother's neck for a full makeout, much to Chloe and Chelsea’s amusement.

Some viewers sensed a strange vibe between the brothers since the first episode, which showed Lochlan seemingly unable to take his eyes off Saxon as he walked to the bathroom completely naked.

"I think that one of the things that we worked on as a group, as a family, was to try to create that dynamic: the closeness, but the oddness, the weirdness we thought was normal, the older brother to younger brother relationship,” he said. “But I think that Saxon actually really does care about his brother.”
"I think that the relationship with his brother — although it's very odd and weird, which is what [creator] Mike [White] wanted — it's still very loving at the same time,” he continued. "I mean, it's just that Saxon has this false perception and idea of what he thinks makes a man and who he thinks he is, and he's trying to groom his younger brother to become that.”

While Lochlan and Saxon work out their dynamic, their father, Timothy Ratliff (Jason Isaacs) discovers that he is under investigation by the FBI for his multimillion-dollar business dealings back home.
Meanwhile, his wife, Victoria Ratliff, played by Parker Posey, relaxes with copious amounts of lorazepam and their daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) grows frustrated by her family.
