White Collar Creator Reveals Title for Potential Revival, Offers Status Update

The latest White Collar revival update: The series has officially been named!

“Can report the studio is very happy with the new White Collar script,” creator, writer and executive producer Jeff Eastin wrote on X early Wednesday morning. He then posted a screenshot of the script with the title White Collar Renaissance emblazoned at the top.

The choice of “Renaissance” as subhead is wonderfully apt, given Neal Caffrey’s knack for nicking priceless art.

The pilot episode also has a title: “Masquerade.”

Talk about jump-starting the series began in November 2023 when series co-lead Matt Bomer shared with TVLine that there was “very legitimate talk” about bringing back the “blue sky” drama, which debuted on USA Network in October 2009 and ran for six seasons.

Then in June 2024, Bomer and co-stars Tim DeKay and Tiffani Thiessen expressed interest in reprising their roles at a 15th anniversary reunion panel held at our sister site Variety’s TV Fest. During the event, White Collar creator Jeff Eastin said that he was writing the script, after which Bomer, DeKay and Thiessen each raised their hands to say they were “in.”

“It’s a fantastic script,” DeKay said at TV Fest. “It answers all the questions that one would have if you watch the show, and it would introduce the show to those who haven’t seen it as well.”

The original White Collar starred Bomer as charming con man Neal Caffrey, who works as a criminal informant under the supervision of FBI Special Agent Peter Burke (DeKay). The ensemble also included Willie Garson as Neal’s con man best friend Mozzie, Thiessen as Peter’s wife Elizabeth, Marsha Thomason as FBI Special Agent Diana Berrigan and Sharif Atkins as FBI Special Agent Clinton Jones.

Additionally, Hilarie Burton played Neal’s love interest, insurance investigator Sara Ellis, while Diahann Carroll portrayed June Ellington, a wealthy widow whom Neal befriends and ends up living with.

While work on the revival seemingly plugs away, Bomer recently locked down a new gig at Hulu. He’ll star in the streamer’s multi-camera comedy Mid-Century Modern alongside Nathan Lane, Nathan Lee Graham (LA to Vegas) and sitcom legend Linda Lavin (Alice). The series  — which hails from Will & Grace creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, and executive producer Ryan Murphy — is loosely inspired by The Golden Girls, and “follows three best friends — gay gentlemen of a certain age – who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest one lives with his mother,” according to its official description.
