What's leaving Netflix in October 2024: “Crazy Rich Asians”, “Key and Peele”, and nearly every Chucky movie

"It Follows," "La La Land," and the wildly popular "Super Mario Bros. Movie" will also depart the streamer in October.

If you go absolutely gaga for Chucky the devil doll, you'd better get busy on Netflix this month.

Right on the heels of the Chucky TV show being canceled, October sees the grand departure of not one, not two, but six films from the Child's Play franchise, including all three Don Mancini Chucky films (Cult, Curse, and Seed of Chucky), as well as the cult classic Bride of Chucky, costarring Jennifer Tilly.

Subscribers will also say goodbye to two of the biggest box office smashes of the new millennium in the first week of the month: Crazy Rich Asians and The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The latter became 2023's first film to cross the billion-dollar threshold at the box office in 2023, and likely would have taken home the crown if it weren't for Barbie. Crazy Rich Asians' box office success set a number of records, including becoming one of the highest grossing rom coms ever made, and becoming the first Hollywood film to feature an all-Asian cast in the 25 years before its 2018 release.

The streamer has a full "Netflix & Chills" program heading to the platform in October, with new and old horror treats alike like It's What's Inside, The Platform 2, Scream, and It Chapter Two. But the opening of one door always heralds the closing of another. Some popular horror content is leaving to make room for all these new ghosts and goblins.

David Robert Mitchell's 2014 breakout It Follows, which made Maika Monroe (Longlegs, Watcher) a star, is leaving on Oct. 10. On Oct. 31, other frightening flicks will flee into the night in suit, like Hellboy and World War Z. Other notable, non-horror departures include all eight seasons of the Australian prison drama Wentworth, Jennifer Lopez's The Wedding Planner, Save The Last Dance, three seasons of Key and Peele, and Oscar-winner La La Land.
