Dolly Parton Suffers Heartbreaking Family Loss

Dolly Parton is mourning the loss of a beloved member of her family.

On Friday, Nov. 15, the country singer's brother David Wilburn Parton passed away at the age of 82. The news was confirmed by her sister, Stella Parton, who announced David's death via social media on Friday.

"My brother David passed away peacefully this morning," Stella, 75, wrote in a message shared to X (formerly Twitter). “It’s never easy to say goodbye to a loved one but he got his angel wings and is now at peace."

An obituary posted online revealed that David passed away at his home in White Pine, Tenn. on Friday morning. Details regarding his cause of death were not disclosed.

In a post shared to Facebook, Stella wrote, "It's never easy to lose a loved one. My wonderful brother David Parton passed in the early hours of the morning."

She later followed up with another Facebook post on Saturday morning, writing, "Thank you for all your kind thoughts to my family as we continue to grieve the loss of our much loved and cherished oldest brother David."

Dolly, 78, has yet to speak out publicly about her brother's death.

Along with the "9 to 5" songstress and Stella, David was one of the 12 Parton siblings, which also include sisters Willadene, 84, Cassie, 73, Freida, 67, Rachel, 65, and brothers Coy, 81, and Robert Jr., 76, as well as Randy, Larry and Floyd, who preceded David in death.

He also leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Kay Parton, two daughters Donna and Dena, and Lucas, who is described in the obituary as his "nephew/son."
