A couple held a Kahoot! battle at their wedding to determine who would sign their marriage certificate.

Ahead of their upcoming elopement in Ireland, John and Cara Ellman-Yuan legally tied the knot on Sunday, Jan. 26 at their home in Kansas City, Missouri. The groom, 31, and bride, 28, had a "very casual" ceremony, with only six other people in attendance — all of whom competed in a Kahoot! game to narrow down the two people who would have the honor of being the marriage certificate witnesses.

"[They] wanted to get the legal side taken care of in a fun and light-hearted way, surrounded by their best friends," Emily Wilson, a close friend of the couple, tells PEOPLE.

Wilson, 27, was the one to marry the couple, as she is ordained through the Universal Life Church. That evening on X, she shared an image of the "pretty tight knit friend group" playing Kahoot! on their phones. Everyone had intense focus, concentrating on hitting the correct shape answer the quickest.

"i'm ordained and about to casually marry my friends before their wedding and everyone's playing a kahoot to decide who gets to sign the marriage certificate as witnesses," Wilson tweeted.

In the comments section of the post, one person called the unique wedding activity "insanely cute," while another person commented, "this is so fun i love being the new adults."

While a Kahoot! might seem out of place for a wedding, it was actually one of the most organized aspects of the nuptials.

"We were all in comfy clothes, some of us straight from work," Wilson notes of wedding attendees. "Cara wore her mother's vintage veil from 1976 and John wore a blazer, which was the most formal aspect of the ceremony."

Everyone was game to play the Kahoot!, which was thoughtfully put together by the bride and groom.

"Cara made the Kahoot! with John's help, and the decision to make it mainly boiled down to them not wanting to have to pick just two friends from the group to sign the witness lines," Wilson explains to PEOPLE.

There was a mix of true or false and multiple choice questions in the four-section Kahoot!

"The Kahoot! had four categories: John Lore, Cara Lore, The Couple, and The Cats," Wilson says. "A few of the questions in the Kahoot!: (1) T/F: John's favorite toy was a bike pump. (It was a screwdriver); (2) Which name was not considered when naming Gazpacho (their cat)?; (3) What was the first musical Cara became so obsessed with that she lost friends over it?"

Bridesmaid Amanda Jenkins, 30, and maid of honor Alex Rosell, 26, had the highest scores, so they happily signed the witness lines on the marriage certificate.
