Watch the trailer for Disney's “Inside Out ”spinoff series, “Dream Productions”
The four-episode miniseries about the characters who make Riley's dreams lands on Disney+ this December.
Inside Out 2 remains the most popular movie of 2024, so you better believe there's more where that came from. The spinoff series Dream Productions comes to Disney+ next month (just in time for the winter holidays), and will depict the behind-the-scenes mental machinations involved in creating the dreams of Inside Out protagonist Riley (voiced by Kensington Tallman).
Dream Productions stars the voice of Paula Pell (Girls5eva) as Paula Persimmon, an acclaimed dream director who is facing pressure to follow up her previous successes. She's paired up with Xeni (voiced by Richard Ayoade), a daydream director looking to move up into the big leagues of nighttime dreams but has a lot of artistic arrogance.

As you can probably tell, Dream Productions looks to be a meta satire of Hollywood moviemaking, but set in the world of Inside Out. It's depicted in a mockumentary style, written and directed by Mike Jones and produced by Jaclyn Simon. The soundtrack from composer Nami Melumad will be available to stream on music platforms starting Dec. 20.

The trailer shows how the dream-making process works inside Riley's mind. The moment she starts getting sleepy (such as watching late-night TV on the couch underneath her Nana's quilt), it's lights, camera, action for Paula and her team, who help provide "extra processing" for certain memories.
Inside Out 2 is now streaming on Disney+, but it made more than $1.6 billion at the global box office before moving to the platform. That's even more than Deadpool & Wolverine, Disney's sole Marvel movie of the year, and fellow animated family movie Despicable Me 4.
