Watch Kelly Clarkson Fail to Recognize Her Own Song in Battle Against Anne Hathaway — Again!

The stars went head-to-head in a game testing their knowledge of song lyrics — and Clarkson failed to recognize one of her own hits

Kelly Clarkson has a much harder time recognizing song lyrics than Anne Hathaway.

During an appearance on Tuesday's episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the Oscar-winning actress went head-to-head with the Grammy-winning singer in a game testing their knowledge of song lyrics — and Clarkson failed to recognize one of her own hits.

Interestingly enough, Hathaway previously won a similar game on her NBC talk show in 2022, recognizing Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" before she did. This time around, the American Idol alum upped her competitive nature — but the Devil Wears Prada star still prevailed.

"Oh no, it's happening again," Hathaway said, realizing how badly the musician was performing in the game.

"Anne Hathaway is never invited back! I'm just kidding. This is actually becoming a schtick for our show," said Clarkson.

The "Miss Independent" singer was then tasked with finishing the lyrics to her chart-topping hit, "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)." After completing the line correctly, however, she shouted out, "That's Christina Aguilera!"

Later in the episode, Clarkson explained her error. "So, you'll notice, America, if you know my catalogue at all — 'cause I don't — I thought I was singing Christina Aguilera's song "Fighter," and I was singing mine," she said.

"It's one of those days. Anyway, Anne Hathaway is my kryptonite. It's fine," added Clarkson.

The first time Hathaway won a lyric battle over the talk show host was in a 2022 game of "Name That Tune," during which Clarkson asked, "Can y'all play a frickin' song I'll know?"

Her band started playing "Since U Been Gone," and Hathaway began singing the lyrics first — leading Clarkson to collapse on the ground in self-disappointment.

Recently, Clarkson had another hilarious slip-up on her show during an interview with British actor Henry Golding, who asked her if ordering a pastrami sandwich for breakfast in New York City was normal or not.

"Well, steak and eggs. I don’t know. I don’t mind meat in the morning," said Clarkson, before quickly realizing her sentence sounded dirty aloud. She then began laughing uncontrollably, before getting up from her chair to take a lap.

"I mean, are you serious? Those are the words I used?" she continued, still laughing. "I was like ‘Did I just say that?’ It’s not a bad thing though!"
