Wait, Is Kelly Clarkson Working on New Music?
Kelly Clarkson is a busy lady. In addition to hosting her own talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, the 42-year-old TV personality is an award-winning singer, not to mention a mom of two. And now, she’s created her own record label and has new music in the works.
During the Wednesday, January 22, episode of her show, Kelly sat down with Keke Palmer to discuss being an entertainer and life as a whole. While chatting about Keke’s music group DivaGurl, Kelly and Keke got onto the topic of labels.
"I'm so much older than you… and it's my first time in my career and I just now started my own label and I'm putting out my own stuff," Kelly told Keke upon learning that she’s had her own label for “six or seven years." "And I've had some good teams, like, to work with, but there is nothing like being that 10-year-old again and being excited and nobody saying 'Oh, you should do this' and 'You should do this.'"
Keke was excited for Kelly and could relate to her process. "People don't know how hard it is," the 31-year-old One of Them Days actor-singer admitted.
Although Kelly’s quite fresh to owning a record label, she’s already well aware of what a feat it can be. "Girl, I'm finding out," she told Keke. "I'm putting together a music video, and I'm like, 'Wait, I forgot to do what?' I just now started it. I started writing, and I was like, 'Wait, how do I put this out now?' And then, I was like 'Well, I guess through me.'"
As of January 24, Kelly is still listed as an artist on the Atlantic Records site. She’s worked under the label since 2016. Before that, Kelly was signed to RCA, whom she had been with since winning American Idol in 2002.
Now the only question is, when can we actually expect new jams—and visuals!—from the "Since U Been Gone" superstar? Soon, we hope.
