’The View’s Joy Behar Shares Unfiltered Opinion on Donald Trump's Inauguration
During the Jan. 14 episode of The View, the co-hosts took on a few trending topics, including country singer Carrie Underwood's decision to perform at President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration.
The conversation began with Alyssa Farah Griffin sharing her thoughts, saying, "I personally hope we're moving beyond the era of politics where we wanna cancel people's livelihoods because we don't like their politics," comparing this situation to the backlash The Chicks faced when they spoke out against George W. Bush.

When co-host Joy Behar shared her thoughts, she disagreed, saying, "I wouldn't do it even if I can't sing...I wouldn't normalize [Trump]."
She specifically referred to a line in Underwood's recent statement about the move when she said, "I love our country," with Behar asking, "How do you love your country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon, who really wants to destroy the country, in my opinion?"
The 82-year-old noted that she supported Underwood's right to perform and free speech, before concluding, "I personally would not do it. No one's asked me, but that's another story," causing the audience to laugh.
Sunny Hostin felt similarly, saying that she also supported Underwood's right to choose to perform, but if she were in her shoes, she wouldn't do it.

"Speak on it, Joy! 👏," wrote one fan, as more chimed in, "That’s why i love Joy she always keeps it real ✅💯🗣️," and "I agree with Joy. I’ve lost respect for Carrie Underwood."
There were some supporters of Underwood mixed in, such as one who argued that it was a job for the singer, saying, "Shes working, leave her alone! Its her not you! WORK IS WORK!"
Underwood is set to perform "America the Beautiful" at the event in Washington, D.C. on Monday, Jan. 20.
