Carrie Underwood to perform 'America the Beautiful' at Trump inauguration
President-elect Donald Trump's second inauguration has booked a major country star to perform.
Carrie Underwood will sing "America the Beautiful" during Trump's inauguration next week, a Presidential Inaugural Committee spokesperson confirmed Monday to USA TODAY.
She will be accompanied by the Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club.
"I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event," Underwood said in a statement to USA TODAY. "I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future."
The "Jesus, Take the Wheel" singer and "American Idol" winner, 41, will be one of the biggest names in music to perform at either of Trump's inaugurations.
Village People to perform at Trump's events, though 'our preferred candidate lost'
In a Facebook post Monday, the Village People revealed they will be partaking in events related to Trump's inauguration.
"We are announcing today that VILLAGE PEOPLE have accepted an invitation from President Elect Trump's campaign to participate in inaugural activities, including at least one event with President Elect Trump," the post read. "We know this wont make some of you happy to hear however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics."
The group's hit song "Y.M.C.A," which has been a staple at Trump's events over the years, "is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost," the group's post said.
"Therefore, we believe it's now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump," the post concluded.
USA TODAY has reached out to Trump's Presidential Inaugural Committee for comment.

Who performed at Trump's 2017 inauguration?
Before he was sworn into office in 2017, Trump held a concert at the Lincoln Memorial that included performances from Toby Keith, Lee Greenwood and 3 Doors Down. "I don't apologize for performing for our country or military," Keith said at the time. "America's Got Talent" alum Jackie Evancho performed the national anthem during the 2017 swearing-in ceremony.
However, some artists reportedly rejected invitations to perform for Trump, and Jennifer Holliday pulled out of performing at the 2017 welcome concert after facing backlash. "I was honestly just thinking that I wanted my voice to be a healing and unifying force for hope through music to help our deeply polarized country," she said at the time.
"… Regretfully, I did not take into consideration that my performing for the concert would actually instead be taken as a political act against my own personal beliefs and be mistaken for support of Donald Trump and Mike Pence."
Carrie Underwood reflects on feeling 'alone,' explains why she stays away from politics
Performers for President Biden's inauguration in 2021 included Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.
In a 2019 interview with The Guardian, Underwood, who has never publicly endorsed Trump, explained why she tries to avoid getting involved in politics.
"I feel like more people try to pin me places politically," she said. "I try to stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins. It's crazy. Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it's black and white. And it's not like that."
Underwood recently performed during ABC's "Dick Clark’s New Year's Rockin' Eve" broadcast on Dec. 31, hosted by Ryan Seacrest.
