A new trailer has been released for Vanessa Hudgens’ upcoming horror film, with the actress looking completely unrecognisable wearing full prosthetics.
Eli Roth’s Haunted House: Trick-VR-Treat, a virtual reality experience, features Vanessa playing two roles as both a young woman dressed as a fairy and a creepy, old Dollmaker.
The immersive film is shown from the point of view of a teenager on Halloween who experiences a night of pure terror in the “ultimate haunted house”.
Vanessa, who is well known for her starring roles in Disney’s High School Musical franchise and Netflix’s The Princess Switch trilogy, looks remarkably different dressed as a scary, elderly woman.
As well as a grey wig and vintage-style dress, the 33-year-old wears a full face of prosthetic makeup for the first time in her career complete with wrinkles, pimples, dark eyes, a hooked nose and hairs on her chin.
‘You will be spooked’
In a statement, Vanessa said she had “such a blast” working with writer and director Eli Roth, Crypt TV and Meta “to bring this terrifying tale to life”.
“To consider how the viewers will have an immersive experience in 180 degrees really adds so many exciting and new elements to playing a character,” she said.
“I don’t want to give too much away but I can say, for certain, that you will be spooked… and you’re going to love it.”
Following the release of the trailer and poster, fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the film and Vanessa’s “horrifying” appearance.
“She's perfect for it, the queen of Halloween,” one person wrote, followed by another who said, “This looks so good! I’m so hyped to see this”.
“Holy hell,” a third commented, while someone else added, “I’m scared already!”
“This is going to be insane,” a different user remarked.
