Usher Has 1 Piece Of Advice For Kendrick Lamar Ahead Of His Super Bowl Performance
Usher is handing Kendrick Lamar the ultimate playbook for his Super Bowl halftime performance.
While appearing on the “Jennifer Hudson Show” earlier this week, Usher reminisced on his 2024 Super Bowl halftime show and took a moment to give Lamar, who’s this year’s performer, some advice.
After acknowledging the depths of Usher’s decades-long career and noting that he’s “done so many things,” host Jennifer Hudson asked the singer, “Where does the Super Bowl rank for you?”
In response, Usher said that the show is at the “top of the top” for experiences he has had, describing the moment as an achievement “every” artist should aspire to achieve.
“You want to know that you’ve amassed enough of a catalog to play for an entire world,” the “My Boo” singer said, adding later on that his halftime performance was one of the “biggest audiences” he’s had in his career.
Hudson then asked Usher if he had any words of advice for Lamar as he prepares for his own halftime performance.
Although the artist said he hasn’t “had a chance to catch up with” the “Not Like Us” rapper, he did share that he talked to Lamar’s team before revealing that his one piece of guidance to Lamar is to “savor the moment.”
Speaking from his own experience, Usher emphasized how easy it is for an artist to become fixated on perfecting “the best performance,” to the point of forgetting to simply live in the moment. The singer then continued on, saying that everything is never going to be “perfect,” and if you seek perfection, then you’re going to forget to “look up at the flowers” and enjoy the moment.
Usher wrapped up his message by saying that he hopes Lamar “maximizes” the opportunity.
Lamar will serve as the halftime entertainment for Sunday’s Super Bowl game against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. The “GNX” artist will be joined by SZA for the performance.
