TVLine Items: Free Apple TV+, Heartland on Cable, The Kardashians’ Return and More

You are officially out of excuses to not see what Severance, Slow Horses, Shrinking or Silo — or any of Apple TV+’s shows that don’t start with the letter “S” — are all about.

The premium streamer has announced that anyone and everyone will be able to stream its original TV series and what not for free this weekend, Friday, Jan. 3 through Sunday, Jan. 5. (An Apple TV+ subscription usually fetches $9.99 month.)

Just think, as you recover from holiday season revelry you could binge both seasons of the acclaimed comedy Shrinking, four seasons of the alt-reality sci-fi drama For All Mankind, the one-and-done Constellation, three seasons of The Morning Show, 18 of Silo‘s 20 episodes, or catch up on Severance and decide if you want to break out a couple Alexander Hamiltons to subscribe for its 10-episode Season 2 (premiering Jan. 17).

Ready for some more recent newsy nuggets? Well

* Spencer Grammer (Greek) and Ajay Naidu (Blindspot) are set to star in Books, an indie TV comedy pilot about cancelled author Wren Wild (Grammer) as she “leads a quirky crew willing to do anything to keep their bookstore alive.” Naidu plays Wren’s silent partner Murry. The pilot will be shopped to networks and streamers in 2025, Deadline reports.

* Having all previously debuted elsewhere, Dune: Part Two, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Watchers and Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 are all now streaming on Netflix.

* Season 17 of Heartland, the longest-running Canadian drama, will make its linear premiere on Sunday, Jan. 12 at 7/6c on UPtv. The series’ latest season debuted back in April on the streaming service UP Faith & Family.
