The truth behind Sara's meltdown on The Block
Last night’s episode of The Block was arguably the most dramatic this season, as contestant Sara Vale walked off the Melbourne renovation site, The Gatwick hotel.
The 31-year-old flight attendant has now spoken out about her and husband Hayden’s shock departure from the Channel Nine reality show, admitting emotions were running very high at this point in the competition.
Receiving criticism from judges Shaynna Blaze, Neale Whitaker and Darren Palmer, who she says called her bathroom ‘ugly’ and ‘dated’, contributed to the decision to walk out.
“I’d got to the point where if I’m going to be constantly insulted on national TV, I’d rather spend time with my family and daughter,” Sara told TV Week magazine.
The reality star said she and Hayden had heard ‘harsh’ comments from the judges for three weeks, but the feedback surrounding the bathroom was the breaking point for her.
“I told the producers I wasn’t coming back,” she explained in the interview.
“I was really hurt and didn’t want to be there.”
What’s more, Sara missed her two-year-old daughter, Harlow, who was back home, and only managed to catch the last 20 minutes of her sister’s wedding, due to filming schedule clashes.
The couple eventually returned to the set to pick up their belongings, and while it hasn’t been made clear whether they will reappear on The Block, Sara’s sure of one thing, her marriage.
Despite the arguments audiences may have seen on screen, Sara insisted “everything is amazing” between her and Hayden.
