Tracee Ellis Ross Ignites Big Internet Reaction With Bold Declaration About Childless Women

Tracee Ellis Ross is taking a bold stance on the topic of "childless women."

Being in the category herself, the Black-ish star appeared on-screen, addressing the audience at the Unite for America rally with Kamala Harris and Oprah Winfrey via video call, where she gave her unfiltered take on women without children.

"As a 52-year-old childless woman, I wanna say to the people who think that a woman's worth is measured in her baby count—I mean, shoutout to all the amazing mothers—but the childless women have been mothering the world and elevating culture as aunties, godmothers, teachers, mentors, sisters, friends, and the list goes on," she boldly recognized.

Wrapping up, the Girlfriends alum added a note of encouragement, declaring, "And you do not need to push out a baby to help push humanity forward."

Ellis Ross' poignant announcement was met with applause from the crowd, as Winfrey chimed in with, "Amen to that! Thank you so much."

The issue has been thrust into the spotlight as of late, becoming a hot-button topic after comments made by Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance resurfaced, where he issued criticism of prominent Democrats, dubbing them “childless cat ladies.”

In a 2021 interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Vance complained that the U.S. was being run by Democrats, corporate oligarchs and "a bunch of childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable, too."

"It's just a basic fact. You look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, A.O.C.—the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children,” Vance said at the time. “And how does it make any sense that we've turned our country over to people who don't really have a direct stake in it?"

Several celebrities have since spoken out against the controversial viewpoint, which has seemingly prompted a wave of public endorsement for the Harris/Tim Walz campaign.

Recently, Taylor Swift identified herself as a member of the targeted demographic, signing off a public show of support for Harris as "Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady."

Selena Gomez and Candice Bergen followed up by acknowledging the comment by each making quips of their own at the Emmys, while Jennifer Aniston and Christie Brinkley are also among those who've responded to the off-putting remark.
