Bindi Irwin shocked the world when she announced boyfriend Chandler Powell had popped the question on her 21st birthday.

The couple became engaged at Bindi’s late father Steve’s Australia Zoo on the Sunshine Coast - the same place they met six years ago.

“On my birthday I said 'yes' and 'forever' to the love of my life,” the bride-to-be wrote on Instagram.

“I’m so looking forwarding to spending our forever together as your wife. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose and unconditional love.”

Romantic pick

Now, details have emerged about the sparkler Chandler gifted his longtime love, which is estimated to have cost the 22-year-old up to AU$70,000.

"For those wondering about my ring, I'm so happy to share," Bindi wrote to her fans on Instagram.

"My ring features a lab grown diamond and is made with rose gold recycled metal. Chandler was incredibly thoughtful when he chose it.

“The ring captures the essence of who I am (with its vintage flare) and our life together with the twisted band and scattered diamonds."

Experts have also offered their analysis of Chandler’s very romantic pick, with Kathryn Money of jewellery brand Brilliant Earth, confirming the ring is “an estimated 2 carat oval diamond”.

“The ring’s design, particularly the band that resembles a twisting vine, exudes a nature-inspired look – the perfect nod to Bindi’s commitment to wildlife and conservation,” she said.

Happy family

As news of the happy couple’s upcoming nuptials spread, Bindi’s famous family were among the first to offer their congratulations.

The star’s younger brother, 15-year-old Robert Irwin, said he’s ‘beyond happy’ for the both of them.

“You are true soulmates and have always been so completely perfect for each other. Love you both and congratulations,: he wrote.

Proud mum, Terri, took to her Twitter account to wish her daughter and future son-in-law well.

“Best day ever! Chandler asked and beautiful @BindiIrwin said yes. I am so very happy, and I know Steve would be too. Congratulations!!” she wrote.
