Forget roses and choccies; it’s gadgets and gizmos that are set to steam things up in the bedroom this Valentine’s Day.
According to pleasure products brand LELO, one million Aussie women intend on purchasing a new adult toy to use themselves or with a partner on Sunday.
Leading the way are married women, who are more likely than their single counterparts to whip out a toy this Valentine's Day for use with their other half or alone.
Those looking to romance someone special - or themselves - have a bevvy of choices when it comes to pleasure products, online adult store Wild Secrets’ certified sex coach Vanessa Rose tells Yahoo Lifestyle.
“For Valentine's Day this year, Wild Secrets is seeing people buy sex toys for couples and solo play because the event can be a celebration of our partner as well as ourselves,” she says.
Toys that harness the power of ‘air pulse technology’ are a clear favourite — “we sell one every minute or so,” says Vanessa — as are app or remote-controlled products known as ‘sextech’.
Read on for a list of adult toys that you can shop online right now in time for an extra-special Valentine’s Day.
SILA by LELO, $259 from Wild Secrets
LELO’s new sonic wave clitoral massager SILA does what it says on the box; using gentle sonic waves, the chic and stylish toy stimulates the pleasure zone equally and gradually leading to a sensual and slow build-up of orgasm.
The SILA boasts eight vibration settings, is waterproof and made of extra-soft, body-safe silicone in pink, aqua or lilac.
Touch of Velvet Vibrator, $53 (currently on sale for $23.85) from Nasty Gal
Nasty Gal informs Yahoo Lifestyle that their sex toy sales jump 50 per cent month on month in the run-up to Valentine’s Day, and this year’s sales are already up a whopping 125 per cent on 2019.
The e-tailer’s bestselling toy is the Touch of Velvet vibrator which comes in three metallic pastel hues, features 10 speed settings and is waterproof.
Envy by Wild Secrets is, according to sex coach Vanessa, the most easy-to-use air tech vibrator for couples as it’s small and light.
“I recommend it as a sex coach because it reduces the pressure to perform for both partners,” she explains.
Lovehoney x Cocktail Porter DIY cocktail boxes, from $79
Need a drink break? Global sexual wellness brand, Lovehoney and Australia’s first premium online cocktail service, Cocktail Porter have teamed up to ensure you have a mind-blowing Valentine’s Day, regardless of your relationship status.
The limited-edition Lovehoney x Cocktail Porter DIY cocktail boxes contain an extra special treat from Lovehoney alongside the key ingredients you’ll need to create your very own Pornstar Martini.
The ‘Singles’ box ($79) is tailor-made for a night of self-love and comes with a silent but powerful Lovehoney Dream Bullet Vibrator (valued at $24.95). Also included is everything you need to whip up five Pornstar Martinis.
“Clitoral toys that use airwaves to deliver multiple, intense orgasms in record time are a consistent best-seller,” says Vanessa, who cites the Satisfier Pro 2 as a customer favourite.
While it’s perfect for some solo love there’s an emerging trend for couples to use it together.
The We-Vibe Chorus Couples Vibrator is an example of wearable sextech for women that can be controlled via the squeezable remote, the user’s body movements and also the smartphone app.
“This clever app lets couples create their own customised vibrations, and share control of the toy from any location, so if they're apart on Valentine's they can still get intimate with each other in creative and exciting new ways,” Vanessa explains.
Moving away from gadgets for a moment, Vanessa says that Aussies are also opting for playful bondage sets such as the popular Wild Secrets x Berlin Baby Red Romance Set.
“The set includes 12 beginner-friendly bondage toys and accessories made from sexy vegan leather and fur. There’s even a pair of sparkling pasties with tassels to inspire a showgirl-style striptease,” she says.
Kick off some V-Day foreplay by rolling the dice and seeing what raunchy situations await.
