Tom Holland Revealed Why He and Zendaya Don't Make Joint Public Appearances
They very rarely walk red carpets together.
Tom Holland and Zendaya keep their years-long romance on the down low, and that's by design. In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Holland explained that he intentionally skips red carpets with his girlfriend, though it isn't for lack of pride for the actress. In fact, the reason is actually so sweet.
Holland explained that while he does attend Zendaya's premieres, he opts out of walking the carpet with her “because it’s not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us.”
He applies the same sentiment to other events that he is not obligated to attend, including live performances. He doesn't want his fame or fan interactions to detract from the other actors in the project.
Elsewhere in the interview, Holland says that one day he'll leave the industry to pursue another dream of his: being a dad. “When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore," he predicted. "[It’ll just be] golf and dad. And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.” Zendaya has also previously expressed wanting kids in the future.
Despite being one of Hollywood's most beloved couples, Holland and Zendaya manage to maintain a pretty normal life outside of the fame. They share two dogs, Noon and Daphne, and he enjoys golfing in his free time. He reflected on a time recently when he golfed alongside a professional athlete and called Zendaya to fanboy over the interaction. “It was the best day of my life. I called my lady and was like, ‘Listen, I’m thinking of turning pro,’” he said.
He also recalled another super relatable moment, during which he wanted to prove that he could still do a backflip to his girlfriend and a young cousin, while also revealing his sweet nickname for Zendaya. “Z was there, and she was like, ‘Are you sure you can still do this?’” he remembered, before adding that while he landed the trick, he later paid the price for it. “I actually did land it, but I pulled every muscle in my stomach, because when you do a backflip, it’s all about extending up as much as you can and then tucking. For weeks, I could not laugh because my stomach was so sore.”
During a recent appearance on the Dish podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, Holland gushed that Zendaya was "best thing that's ever happened to me," while also commending her culinary skills. “I actually love Zendaya’s spicy vodka fusilli thingamagigy,” he said. “And it is delicious.”
