'No fever but the blahs': Tom Hanks gives coronavirus symptoms update
Tom Hanks has given fans an update on his coronavirus symptoms, just one week after he and his wife, Rita Wilson, tested positive for COVID-19.
“Hey folks. Good News: One week after testing Positive, in self-isolation, the symptoms are much the same. No fever but the blahs,” Tom started his message.
“Folding the laundry and doing the dishes leads to a nap on the couch. Bad news: My wife @ritawilson has won 6 straight hands of Gin Rummy and leads by 201 points.
“But I have learned not to spread my Vegemite so thick. I travelled here with a typewriter, one I used to love. We are all in this together. Flatten the curve. Hanx.”
Tom’s Vegemite comment comes after fans jokingly mocked the actor after he shared a photo from his hotel room, showing his meal of Vegemite on toast.
“Ok that’s far too much vegemite on the toast,” one person wrote.
“With that amount of Vegemite the coronavirus is probably thinking let’s get outta here it’s not safe,” another person wrote, alongside a laughing emoji.
“Can you tell by the comments us Aussies are pretty passionate about our Vegemite ... hope you feel better soon, all those B Vitamins in the Vegemite will do you good!,” another person said.
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson left the Gold Coast University Hospital less than a week after testing positive for coronavirus.
The famous couple, who are both 63, are now being quarantined at a rental home.
Tom and Rita announced five days ago that they were being treated in an Australian hospital after contracting the virus.
“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia,” Tom wrote on Instagram.
“We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.
“Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?
“We’ll keep the world posted and updated.
“Take care of yourselves!”
Then, on Friday, Tom gave his millions of fans an update from his hospital room at Gold Coast University Hospital.
“Hello folks. @ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us,” Tom wrote on Instagram.
“We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness.
“We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx”
