Taylor Swift makes history winning global sales award for the fifth time

Taylor Swift was crowned the global recording artist of the year for a third consecutive year and fifth total time.

The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) announced the honor on Tuesday morning saying Swift is the only artist to achieve the honor five times. The IFPI is a nonprofit organization that represents the global recording industry.

The Eras Tour singer also scooped up four other IFPI honors including global album chart, global vinyl album chart, global streaming album chart and global album sales chart. The IFPI credits her success to the release of her 11th studio album, "The Tortured Poets Department."
