Tim Allen-Kat Dennings ABC Comedy Shifting Gears Adds Seann William Scott

It’s official: Tim Allen is returning to ABC.

Three years after Last Man Standing wrapped its nine-season run, Allen is returning to the world of multi-camera comedy in the network’s newest series, Shifting Gears. Fellow sitcom vet Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls) co-stars.

As reported by our sister site Variety, American Pie grad Seann William Scott has boarded the cast in a series regular role.

Michelle Nader — who previously served as showrunner on Dennings’ previous series, 2 Broke Girls and Dollface — will also serve as showrunner on Shifting Gears.

In addition to Allen and Dennings, the Shifting Gears cast includes Seann William Scott (Welcome to Flatch) as Gabriel, a family friend of Matt and Riley’s who works at the shop with Matt.

Meanwhile, Daryl “Chill” Mitchell (NCIS: New Orleans) will co-star as Stitch, described as “a former Marine” and “a mechanic at the shop,” while Maxwell Simkins (The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers) and newcomer Barrett Margolis will play Riley’s kids, Carter and Georgia.

Duncanville creators Mike and Julie Thacker Scully served as writers and executive producers on the pilot. According to our sister site Deadline, Michelle Nader — who previously served as showrunner on Dennings’ previous series, 2 Broke Girls and Dollface — will also serve as showrunner on Shifting Gears.
