As comedian Tiffany Haddish finishes preparations for her forthcoming tour, she’s promising her audiences sharp punchlines, life stories—and sex tips. “I should have been a sex education teacher,” Haddish told Joanna Coles and Samantha Bee during an interview on this week’s episode of The Daily Beast Podcast. (“When you go to Idaho,” Bee quipped of one of Haddish’s tour dates, “that may be the only sex education that the people of Idaho have received in their lives.”)

Sexual hygiene is a particular point she’d like to highlight: “Before I hook up with a guy, I have to give him a bath,” Haddish said. “I make sure I put a pound of baking soda in the water, one cup of peroxide and three drops of tea tree oil.”

Alongside good sex, Haddish is also passionate about wellness, and told Coles and Bee of her plans to build her own grocery store and community center, saying she wants to create the “Black Erewhon.”

The shop, located in south Central Los Angeles, is currently under construction. It’s Haddish’s own neighborhood, she noted—and one that’s currently well serving its people. “We got a Kaiser Permanente, but we don’t got no good food,” she said. Once up and running, it will offer financial literacy and cooking classes, alongside items for sale from Black farmers and vendors.

“Once I understood how money worked and how food worked, I became a much happier, more productive human being,” Haddish explained. “So I want that for others.”
