The Wiggles' Emma Watkins finds love again with another co-star

The Wiggles star Emma Watkins captured near-national attention for her marriage and subsequent split to co-star Lachlan Gillespie.

But now, the group’s inaugural female member has revealed she’s found love again—this time with musician Oliver Brian, who also appears in the series.

Emma, 30, made the admission to Stellar Magazine on Sunday, revealing for the first time she is ‘in love’ with her new partner and friend of more than four years.

“I haven’t actually told anybody because it’s new, but I feel happy,” she said, adding: “He’s very opposite to me.”

“He’s a very calm and thoughtful person and I’ve always been interested in his mind and his take on life, and his morals.

Both moving on

The entertainer, who officially split with Lachlan last August after two years of marriage, went on to describe how her new love has shifted her approach to life.

“I’m a bit particular. I used to worry about being late or not getting my pirouette right, but he’s taught me not to worry and not to focus on myself, but to help other people,” she said.

“The last couple of months have been really eye-opening. I’ve relaxed a lot more.”

And while the idea of working with both an ex-husband and a new flame may be unappealing to some, Emma and Lachlan describe themselves as ‘best friends’ even post-split.

Better apart

She told the Gold Coast Bulletin last year their decision to separate led to a “weird time” for the couple, and she ultimately decided they were better off as friends.

“We are not really cranky at each other, we just realised that our situation had changed,” she said, “probably more from me, than from him.”

Adding to the transition’s likely ease is the fact Lachlan also found love on set earlier this year, with ballet dancer and Wiggles guest star, Dana Stephensen.

In fact, the two women posed for a smiley snap together during the segment, with Emma expression her excitement about having ballerinas appear as part of the show.

“When we found out who the dancers were, we got so excited. For me, they're dancers that I have been watching for years,” Emma said in a video posted at the time.
