The Wiggles' Anthony Field makes surprising confession on the Logies red carpet

EXCLUSIVE: The Wiggles could've been completely different.

The Wiggles star Anthony Field has made the surprising admission that he wasn’t always meant to be the ‘Blue Wiggle’.

The children’s entertainer, who is the only founding member still performing with the group, told Yahoo Lifestyle at the TV WEEK Logie Awards red carpet on Sunday that his colour was originally green but had to be changed because of a “technical” issue.

“I was green!” he revealed. “And we had green screen and I didn't have a body, so they put me in blue. So I was green originally.”

Meanwhile, Anthony’s daughter Lucia, who joined the group last year as the second ‘Blue Wiggle’, admitted that blue is her preference.

“Blue is actually my favourite colour, and it just so happens that I'm now in blue,” she said.

Simon Pryce added that despite being the ‘Red Wiggle’, he doesn’t tend to wear a lot of red when going out.

'Bawling my eyes out'

The Wiggles’ documentary Hot Potato: The Story of The Wiggles is set to premiere on Prime Video later this year, which Anthony teased will be quite emotional for viewers.

“It's 32 years of ups and downs,” he detailed. “There are some moments where I was bawling my eyes out thinking about when Greg [Page] had the heart attack.

“And it shows a lot of the fun behind a lot of the work, a lot of the hours touring. It’s a lot of fun.”
