The Voice winner Tarryn Stokes reveals surprising plans with $100k prize money
EXCLUSIVE: The season 12 champion opens up about life post-show.
The Voice’s Tarryn Stokes has revealed how she plans on spending her prize money after winning this year’s season of the singing competition.
The 40-year-old mother-of-three, who was coached by Rita Ora, walked away from the reality show with $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Australia.
Speaking with Yahoo Lifestyle at the 2023 ARIA Awards, Tarryn revealed she has already started spending her winnings.
“I bought Nike shoes, I bought some socks for my children, and we're gonna buy a trampoline for the backyard,” she shared. “So you know, life is a mum, right? It's those kinds of things.
“And we’re gonna go on a holiday and then also pay the mortgage.”

Tarryn went on to say that she has found the public support to be “overwhelming” following her win.
“I can't believe people like what I do,” she remarked.
“I think I've always had like negative thoughts of like, oh it's not that good, or my voice isn't that good or anything. So I feel like just having so many people like what I do has been a real confidence boost.”
'Really honoured'
Immediately after winning The Voice, Tarryn released a 5-track EP titled The Complete Collection including her winner’s single ‘Nobody’.
She explained that while she was given a choice of which original song to record, she immediately fell in love with the self-love anthem.
“[The producers] really loved this song and so I was like, ‘Okay, I'll hear it’, and then as soon as I heard it I was like, ‘Yeah, I love it’,” she detailed.
“I was kind of ready to be like, ‘I don't like this, I don't like this’, but I was like, ‘I love it’. And then when I heard that one of the songwriters has written for Christina Aguilera and they're a Grammy Award-winning songwriter I was like, that's why it's so good! So I was really, really honoured.”
