The Project star Carrie Bickmore's birthday cake fail: 'Oops!'

Carrie Bickmore has suffered somewhat of a fail when it comes to her homemade cake for her eldest child, Oliver in celebration of his 14th birthday on Sunday.

The Project star had lovingly put together a cake shaped like an airport control tower for Ollie the night before, only to have it look a little worse for wear on the big day.

Carrie, 40, took to Instagram to share a snap of her towering creation, which consisted of a smaller round sponge cake iced in red icing atop a larger sponge iced in white. Both had several bite-sized chunks mysteriously missing...

The cake-nibbling culprit, as Carrie revealed in the caption, was none other than the youngest member of the household, daughter Adelaide who turns three in December.

"And I am sorry your baby sister secretly took a nibble out of your ‘control tower’ cake before you got a chance to enjoy it," the Gold Logie winner apologised.

"Lucky I got a pic the night before (swipe across for original cake)," she added.

Carrie's Instagram followers also saw the funny side of the incident, with a sea of crying-laughing emojis appearing in the comments section.

"Oops!" wrote one fan, while another added, "This is amazing."

In an earlier post, Carrie shared a sweet pic of the birthday boy himself with a heartfelt caption praising him for his positive attitude to spending his second birthday in lockdown due to the pandemic.

"Happy 14th Ollie (umm where has my baby gone)," she wrote.

"You have dealt with your second ‘lockdown’ birthday with the same attitude you take to life… no fuss… a big smile… and great humour. You are the best company and I love you so ridiculously much."

Carrie has three kids: son Ollie, whose father is Carrie's late husband, Greg Lange, and daughters Addie, 2, and Evie, 6, who Carrie welcomed with her current partner, Chris Walker.

Carrie has been on a cake-baing streak of late, whipping up a cute penguin cake for Chris' 40th birthday back in August.

"Looks like a cake for a 4 year old….was actually a cake for a 40 year old. he loves PENGUINS," she captioned a photo on Instagram.

Luckily, it seemed the penguins were safe from a certain sweet-toothed toddler.
