Rebel took to her Instagram this week to share news about her fertility struggle'. She had previously been open about how that was part of her decision to embark on her 'Year of Health' in 2020 which saw her lose an impressive 30kg.

Rebel said turning 40 was what initially triggered her desire to live a healthier life, particularly as she started to think about things like her fertility and made the decision to freeze her eggs.

“As all career women would know if that is something that interests you approaching 40 is a good time to do it,” she said previously. “So I was thinking about fertility and thought I am going to do this and get healthy."

This week she updated her fans, writing: "I got some bad news today and didn’t have anyone to share it with... but I guess I gotta tell someone."

"To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya. The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all doesn’t make sense... but I hope there’s light about to shine through all the dark clouds."

Mum of three Carrie was clearly touched by the message, calling Rebel "so brave" for speaking out.

“It’s so hard when someone who’s that famous opens up like that, because then it’s hard when you decide to share so much,” she said on The Project.

“She should be able to share as little or as much as she wants on the terms she wants.

“It’s brave to go, ‘I will let the world in’. Something so deeply private.

“The comfort that will provide other women, knowing they are not alone.. so many women are affected by it. I hope she’s allowed to deal with it on her terms.”

Speaking with E! about her weight loss success last year, the Pitch Perfect star revealed her struggle with polycystic ovarian syndrome.

"I’ve been overweight for about 20 years. I started gaining weight when I was about 20," she said.

"I had something called PCOS – polycystic ovarian syndrome – and I gained weight rapidly.

"It’s just a hormone imbalance and you gain a lot of weight usually and that’s how it manifested in me. Sometimes I feel sad, but then at the same time, I worked my body to my advantage. I like being all sizes. It’s just now turning 40, I am more health-conscious and thinking of starting a family."

Rebel received support from fellow stars after she shared her post this week, with actress Jillian Bell commenting, "Sending you love Rebel," while her Pitch Perfect co-star Alexis Knapp added, "So sorry my love. Been through it."

Many others shared their support for the star with one follower writing, "Here in solidarity with you! I’m an OBGYN and only 36 [years old] and I spent my life on my career, trying to freeze my eggs from ovaries that no longer care. It’s like I traded smarts and professional gains for my fertility only no one told me."
