Tommy Little calls out Beau Ryan for insulting nuns on The Project

The Project host Tommy Little called out guest panellist Beau Ryan on last night’s episode of current affairs show, after the 34-year-old insulted two nuns from The Amazing Race Australia.

Beau, who presents the Channel 10 reality show, was chatting about competitors Judy Bowe, 53 and Therese Mills, 45, who are Catholic nuns from Canberra.

When asked if he thinks the nuns will have some sort of divine intervention during the show and go on to win the $250,000 prize, the 34-year-old made some bizarre comments about their ages.

“I had them have a chat to God because I’m pretty sure I’m going to hell as you are,” he said, looking at Tommy Little, who laughed along.

“They surprised a lot of people, I think they look a bit older than they actually are. They’re actually quite athletic,” he continued.

Tommy Little then interjected, telling Beau that he probably shouldn’t be commenting on the women’s ages.

“I don’t think women like you saying they look older. I think you meant to say they look younger,” Tommy said, to which Beau responded cementing his thoughts on their ages: “No, they look a little bit older but they’re super fit. They’re agile and they’re fit and they’ve got God on their side. But they do, they look much older than they actually are.”

Nuns Judy and Therese previously told the Sydney Morning Herald that they are “proud to represent mature women pitted against ‘younger and fitter’ teams”.

Judy also commented on representing the Catholic church on the reality show, saying: “We definitely have in the back of our minds that there’s been a lot of terrible stuff happening in the Catholic Church.

“The church is a little bit traumatised by the whole reality, whether you were involved or experienced the trauma or not. People are reeling from that.

“I don’t want to say a lot about that but because of that background we thought this could be a positive presentation of people who love God and love the church and have real hope for the future of the church.”
