The Block: The real reason Kyle and Leslie sold their gnome revealed

It’s an act of revenge that has divided fans of The Block but now the real reason behind Kyle and Leslie’s decision to sell their gnome to House 4 has been revealed.

This week, Kyle and Leslie decided to sell their gnome to Steph and Gian, mainly as an act of revenge for House 2’s earlier accusations that they were overspending on their backyard week budget.

After plunging most of their funds into their backyard, Kyle and Leslie were left with pennies come front yard week and because of this (and to get a little revenge on Leah and Ash), they decided to sell their highly sought-after gnome, which adds an extra point to the tally at judging.

However, now an industry insider has told Yahoo Lifestyle the real reason House 1 decided to part ways with their gnome was because there was “a push for Kyle and Leslie to get more involved in the drama”.

Our source claims Leslie was seen in tears just two weeks before the filming ended after “hearing a comment that she had brought nothing to the series”.

"Leslie was overheard saying that she was deeply disappointed at how she was coming across and feared she would barely be seen in the final edit”, our insider said.

“House One would have probably laughed off Leah and Ash if this was in the first few weeks. So to get revenge the way they did was completely out of character,” our source said.

Fans turn on contestants over revenge act

Fans online have been left a little put out by the move, with many turning on the once favourites, saying Steph and Gian have won enough and that it seems out of character for Kyle and Leslie.

“Haven’t they won enough? This seems very, very unfair. Regardless of whether you like certain contestants or not let’s play on an even playing field” one person said.

“I have now lost all respect for Steph & Gian,” another fan wrote.

“This is just all getting so vindictive. I don’t like it,” a viewer wrote.

“It’s not about selling the gnome. That’s fair game, it’s the behaviour they are displaying regarding the whole situation that is extremely disappointing,” another person wrote.

Others said the rules around gnomes should have been made clear to everyone before filming began and that they were also shocked that Scott Cam gave Steph and Gian the go-ahead to purchase the gnome.
