The Block contestants clash in heated tennis court debate: 'Ridiculous'
There was plenty of drama on Wednesday's episode of The Block, with two teams butting heads over a tennis court.
Dylan and Jenny were upset when they found out that Omar and Oz’s tennis court would obstruct the view from their house.
“They would’ve had options to put it in different places. Why put it right where they obviously knew where our pool was, because the hole has been dug for weeks?” Jenny told producers.
“No one ever let us have a say, no one even told us and that’s just unfair, so yeah I’m mad,” she said.
Yahoo Lifestyle talked to Omar and Oz about their side of the clash. While the pair told producers on the show they were putting the court in front of Dylan and Jenny's view on purpose, they tell us that was just a joke.
“We initially didn’t have the tennis court going there,” Omar begins, adding that there were a number of factors that resulted in the decision.
“With how much rain we did have on The Block, and how hard it was to get that landscaping organised, we felt like [House 4] probably needed to see our tennis court as much as we did,” he explains.

The pair reveal that it was likely 'the only spot’ that they could put their tennis court in the end.
While Jenny told producers that it was ‘ridiculous’ that House 5 could put their court ‘right outside her living room’, Omar hit back at her claims it was ‘unfair’.
“Everything happens for a reason. You know how I see it? [Dylan and Jenny] beat us in the challenge result and they chose House 4, so they had the option of picking House 5 [but] they didn’t pick it.
“There’s certain things that don’t go your way on The Block and unfortunately, our tennis court wasn’t one of their favourite parts,” he finished.
Omar also admitted that the hardest part of their entire experience was being House 5.
He said that because they were the last house on The Block, they often suffered delays and their orders would arrive ‘a lot later’ than the other contestants.
“I think that was probably the hardest part. People don’t probably notice that at home, but we did get everything a lot later than everyone else and that probably affected us the most week in, week out,” he adds.
Omar and Oz’s sweet surprise
It wasn’t all drama in the episode, as the contestants spent the morning with their families for the first time in ten weeks.
Oz says that being able to see their families in person was incredible.
“It meant a lot to be honest. I mean, we really needed the boost, and to see our family in one of the biggest week meant a lot to us,” he remembers.
“To see them running up to us…really gave us the boost we needed to finish off the last two weeks. It’s pretty cool.”
