The terrifying $5k facial reality stars are trying

There’s an age old saying many of us have heard from a young age – beauty is pain, apparently.

It seems some reality stars are taking that quite literally, undergoing a terrifying $5,000 (£2,775) facial.

Geordie Shore star Holly Hagan recently splashed out on the facial, called ‘Fully Ablative CO2 Laser Resurfacing’ treatment by Dr. Asif Hussein and the whole process is quite horrifying.

The London-based doctor claims the procedure can “obliterate all your skin concerns in one sitting”.

Holly shared her recovery progress on Instagram, warning her fans about some graphic images of her face from the peel.

Referring to herself looking like a “monster” day three post-facial, the 26-year-old’s face was extremely red and covered in blisters.

“So as you can see from that picture, my eye swelling has completely gone down,” she explained, according to The Mirror.

On Tuesday, Holly shared another update with her followers of her face looking slightly less red, but still swollen and pink.

“My skin feels rough to the touch still a lot of skin that needs to come off but over the main bit now,” she wrote.

“I’ve noticed that even if I touch my skin too harshly with my nail or something it will leave a mark or scratch so have to be super careful.”

Love Island UK star Alexandra Cane also recently underwent the procedure after battling impetigo – a bacterial infection which causes sores on the skin – and to get rid of acne scarring, but the 27-year-old admitted she was left with very sore eyes after the treatment.

Dr. Hussein posted a series of confronting photographs of Alexandra on his Instagram, to show “how quickly [the skin] can self heal in just 5 days”.

While the results after three weeks do look impressive, the recovery process from the treatment looks extremely painful.
