Bindi Irwin shocked fans this week after claiming her grandfather Bob Irwin has "ignored her" since she was a little girl and "returned gifts" the family had sent him over the years.
Now, Bindi's mum and Bob's daughter-in-law Terri Irwin has seemingly responded to the feud by sharing a cryptic post on Twitter about "avoiding certain people".
Terri shared a quote by author and military veteran Steve Maraboli which read, "Avoiding certain people to protect your mental health is not a weakness... It's wisdom."
The mum-of-two captioned the snap, "Thank you @SteveMaraboli. Another jewel. Caring for others seems to be easier than caring for ourselves. It takes courage to follow through on what we know is the right thing to do. Wishing everyone the best to be brave and wise. It’s worth it!"
Bindi was responding to a fan on Facebook when she dropped the bombshell claim about her grandfather.
A fan asked why the new mum wasn’t celebrating her grandfather in her gallery of the "most incredible fathers" in her life.
"Unfortunately my grandfather Bob has shown no interest in spending time with me or my family," she replied.
"He has never said a single kind word to me personally. It breaks my heart but it is not healthy to engage in an abusive relationship."
Bob has yet to respond publicly to the comment, but some of his inner circle have hit back.
Bethany Wheeler, whose stepmother Mandy is Bob’s daughter, posted on Facebook responding to the "absolutely appalling comments" made by Bindi about her ‘poppy’.
"The time has come to speak up," she wrote on the public post. "We have all felt sick reading the lies for too long."
"Poppy is the most genuinely beautiful human on this planet and has NEVER spoken out or put down anybody!"
"He is a man who sits silently and battles his demons alone, in what is great sadness. He doesn’t retaliate, only prays for his grandchildren’s safety and good lives."
She went on to thank Bob for being an inspiration to her, and finished the post by saying "these lies need to stop".
Amanda French, who helped co-write Bob’s 2016 memoir, The Last Crocodile Hunter, has also weighed in on the family feud.
"I have sat with [Bob] in hospital many times, lived with him, had him walk me down the aisle and he's also our son's Godfather," she commented on Bindi's Facebook post.
"He hasn't seen you since you were 10. He has done all he knows how to do and that is bury his head in the sand because that's how he copes."
"He's not someone who is out there about reaching out and communicating, he's like your Dad was. An introvert and not someone who can navigate people well."
Bindi announced on Tuesday that she would be taking a break from social media after her comment about Bob went viral.
She wrote, "Hi guys, Just a note to say thank you for your support. I'm taking a break from social media and most of my work in the public eye for a month to be with my beautiful daughter and my wonderful family."
Her husband Chandler Powell shared a message of support for his wife, writing, "You inspire me with your unwavering kindness and your ability to stand up for what is right. You are the strongest and most beautiful person inside and out. Grace has an amazing mama to look up to."
Bindi's brother Robert Irwin also wrote, "So proud of you, Bindi!"
