“Teen Mom: ”Jenelle Evans' Son Jace, 15, Shares He 'Feels a Lot Safer' without David Eason in Honest Conversation with Mom

Last year, Evans was granted full custody of Jace after he had been in the care of his grandmother for much of his life

Jenelle Evans is ready for a new chapter with her older son.

In a clip posted to Teen Mom's TikTok account from the season finale, the star, 32, spoke with her older son Jace, 15, about their history, beginning by thanking him for his help around the house with her younger kids. Evans gained full custody of her teenage son a year ago after he had been in the care of her grandmother for most of his life.

"Thank you for all the help, because you’ve been helping a lot with the kids and chores, and I see it. So how are you feeling here?” Evans asks her son.

“I feel a lot safer without David," Jace responds, referencing Evans' estranged husband David Eason, whom she legally separated from in March 2024.

“I’m sorry it didn’t happen sooner. But I was trying,” Evans responds.

Jace says that now that David is gone, he's feeling fine in the house.

“And I remember you saying, ‘I want all the drama to stop. CPS has been in my life since I was little. I’m sick of them coming in and out. And you said you just want this all to be over.’ With me and Meme, it was like, arguing about you and I know you were in the middle of all that,” Evans says, referencing her mother.

“I just wanted everything to calm down, get on a good point. Everyone got on a good thing with everyone,” Jace says.

Evans then asks her son if he feels any anger or resentment towards her.

“Mm,” Jace says, nodding. “In the time, I did. But now that we’re out of all this, like, crazy drama, it’s just calm. Everything’s good now.”

“Well you know I’ve made tons of mistakes all my life. But I just want you to realize that my intentions were never bad," Evans says. "I always tried hard to fight for you. I just feel like you were robbed from me as a baby, you know? And I don’t think it was fair."

“But give me a hug. Stand up, give me a hug. Taller than me. I love you," adds Evans. "I love you too," Jace responds.

Evans shares Jace with ex Andrew Lewis. She shares daughter Ensley Jolie, 7, with Eason, and Kaiser Orion, 9, with ex Nathan Griffith.

Last year, Evans was granted full custody of her oldest child after he had been in the care of his grandmother for much of his life.

Evans previously opened up about the moment she signed the paperwork to take custody of the teen, sharing a video and photos of the moment to her Instagram and TikTok accounts.

"#MyHappyEnding ITS OFFICIAL! Thanks everyone for the support! Words can't [describe] how happy I truly am. Our family is complete now! Thank you mom. ❤️😭," she captioned the video.

Evans also revealed at the time that her mother was "completely fine" with the custody of Jace being passed over to her daughter after 13 years.

"She's like, 'I'm ready to have my freedom. I'm ready to go on a cruise.' And her and her friend have a cruise already planned," Evans said.
