Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Are Not Engaged, Counter to Rumor Shared by Troy Aikman
PEOPLE can confirm that the singer and NFL star are not engaged, counter to a claim Aikman said someone shared with him via text
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are not engaged, PEOPLE can confirm.
The rumor mill was abuzz with speculation that the Chiefs star, 35, had popped the question to the "Fortnight" singer, 34, after former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman said he had been told the A-list couple "might" be heading to the altar on an episode of the Pardon My Take podcast.
“Someone actually reached out to me today and said they might actually be engaged,” Aikman said on the show — just one day after he mistakenly referred to Swift as Kelce's "missus" during the Monday Night Football broadcast on Oct. 7.
The flub happened when cameras showed the superstar singer cheering for Kelce in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium during the Chiefs' 26-13 win over the New Orleans Saints on Monday.
Swift was celebrating a big play by her boyfriend with his parents, Donna and Ed Kelce, and her father Scott Swift as Aikman jumped the gun on the couple's relationship status.
Kelce and Swift have been dating for more than a year, making time for one another despite their demanding schedules.
Swift has attended three of Kansas City's five games so far since the start of the current NFL season, only having missed the Chiefs' two road games in Atlanta and Los Angeles.
On Oct. 18, the singer will take the stage in Miami for the final run of her Eras Tour shows, which will conclude in December.

After the Chiefs win on Monday, Swift's fans were thrilled when the Grammy winner was spotted hanging out with Kelce's friends — and even participating in a game day routine with the NFL star's close friend, Aric Jones — and taking pictures with the other Chiefs WAGs.
Kelce and the Chiefs are now on their bye week, and the tight end teased that he has plans for the break but refused to reveal them on his podcast, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce.
When his brother Jason asked if he's "going to tell anybody" what the plans were, Travis replied, "No, but if any of it comes out I'm sure we'll talk about it on the show."
