Taylor Swift Fans React to Internet Star’s New ‘Eras’ Tour Announcement: ‘Is This a Copyright Violation?’

Taylor Swift’s fans have some questions after seeing an internet star announce that she will soon be kicking off her very own “Eras” tour.

YouTube personality and Just Trish podcast host Trisha Paytas announced her impending tour on social media on Thursday, Jan. 16. The Eras of Trish Tour is scheduled to kick off on Feb. 20 in Indianapolis, Ind., with dates running through early June.

In addition to the language used for the tour name and official announcement, Paytas, 36, posed for her tour poster wearing a bodysuit that fans observed looked very similar to one Swift, 35, wore onstage during her hit international Eras Tour. The 14-time Grammy Award winner’s tour began in the U.S. in March 2023 and traveled overseas before wrapping up in Canada last month.

After detailing when tickets will be available, Paytas wrote in the caption accompanying her Instagram announcement that she “CAN’T WAIT TO PERFORM AND HUG YOU 🤗.”

Many of Paytas’ fans reacted excitedly on X, formerly Twitter, as they said they "have to go” see her, with one declaring her tour announcement has been the “Only positive thing to happen this year so far tbh.” Several others responded on X and on Instagram with pleas for Paytas to add other tour stops as she travels across the U.S.

But when a Swift fan account reposted Paytas’ tour announcement on X, many people had questions about the tour title and poster artwork.

“This is weird,” one fan wrote as another shared, “i like trisha but how is she allowed to do this??”

“Copying another artists tour seems cringe af to me,” one person tweeted as another wrote, “i feel like this shouldn’t be allowed.”

“Is this a copyright violation??? 👀,” an X user wrote in response to Paytas’ tweeted announcement.

“Can she just take that title, though?” another Swiftie wondered before echoing the legality question, writing, “I don't know if it's somehow copyrighted?”

“Why Trish....why?" one more X user urged. "Leave the Eras Tour alone girl."
