The fast food chain previewed the new Baja Blast pie at its inaugural Live Más LIVE event in early 2024, and announced that the Mountain Dew-inspired custard dessert was coming soon in a July press release.

Snackolator, a popular food blogger, tried the dessert back in February and described the filling as “a thicker, creamy Baja Blast flavored cream” with a fruity, tropical taste. Instagram commenters shared that they thought they were being pranked, calling it a “radioactive pie.”

Food blogger snackbetch now reports that Taco Bell will be rolling out new menu items nationwide soon, and while some, like the Midnight Cherry Freeze, have been met with glee, the pie is drawing some derision.

“Baja blast pie is giving play dough,” wrote one fan, while another commented that the pie looks “suspect.” One commenter went so far as to address those who were interested in trying it, writing, “Anyone eat that pie imma pray 4 u.”

Commenters seemed concerned by the bright green hue of the dessert, writing that the “baja blast pie looks outrageously toxic,” and “the color of that pie is not found in nature 😭.”

Not all comments were negative, with some people writing that they “want everything especially the pie,” and proclaiming, “lemme holler at that Baja pie.”
