Survivor’s Brooke Jowett reveals sweet pregnancy details: 'Amazing'

EXCLUSIVE: The TV personality opens up about her pregnancy with fiancé Chris Cavanagh.

She’s competed on Australian Survivor twice and came second on The Challenge last year, and now Brooke Jowett is preparing to face her greatest challenge yet: motherhood.

The reality star announced last month that she and her fiancé, My Kitchen Rules alum Chris Cavanagh, are expecting their first child together in September.

“It just feels so weird,” she tells Yahoo Lifestyle with a laugh. “Because I'm in my second trimester I kind of forget that I’m pregnant, so sometimes I'm walking past a mirror and I'm like, ‘Ah!’.

“My belly is growing but the rest of me is still small so I just get a shock every now and then, but it’s so exciting.”

Brooke, who got engaged in October, shares that she and Chris initially planned to tie the knot before expanding their family but changed their mind when they began organising their wedding.

“We did all our research, found some beautiful venues - everything’s so expensive by the way - and no one could really fit us in until late 2024 or early 2025,” she details.

“And I didn’t want to wait that long to have a baby because my partner and I look after my sister's kids all the time and it's just something that I feel so ready for. So we were like, the wedding can wait, let's focus on other things.

“We were very fortunate that we got lucky very early on, I know that's not the case for everyone else, but I’m feeling very grateful that we get to go through all of this.”

'She's going to remember this forever'

Before she welcomes her child, Brooke recently celebrated her first Mother’s Day a few weeks early by taking her beloved mum, Sue, on a Slumber Safari at Werribee Zoo with RedBalloon.

“Mum and I are best friends, we're constantly hanging out,” she gushes. “She always does everything for everyone else, so it was nice to be able to spoil her - especially for Mother's Day.

“I came to her with a few options and asked her what she wants to do, thinking she might choose the high tea or the cooking classes, and then she said, ‘I want to do the Slumber Safari, I've wanted to do it my entire life!’. She was so excited, and it was just so amazing.

“She sent me the most beautiful message after saying she’s going to remember this forever and she’s wanted to do this for so long and she’s so happy she got the chance, and she’s literally not stopped talking about it since.”

Brooke went on to say that she’s “so grateful” she and her mum were able to create memories together that will last beyond Mother’s Day and encourages Aussies to forgo the chocolates and flowers this year and gift experiences instead.

“My siblings and I are so used to being like, ‘Mother’s Day is coming, better get mum some tops, bras and undies’,” she laughs. “The poor thing got the same thing all the time.

“Occasionally we'd get a bracelet or a necklace, but if you asked her about it she'd have no idea. Whereas this experience, I can genuinely tell you that she'll be talking about it forever. It's definitely nice to do something like this rather than giving something tangible.”
