'Survivor' Host Jeff Probst Reveals the "Weird Thing" About Auditioning
After more than two decades of Survivor airing on CBS, it's easy to think it takes a lot to get chosen as a contestant. After all, it's one of the biggest realty competition shows ever. But it turns out, auditioning isn't as hard as it seems.
Jeff Probst, the show's host, appeared on CBS Mornings on February 25, where he spoke about all-new season 48. As he talked about the legacy of the competition series, CBS host Adriana Diaz shared that the shows' cameraman, Scott, was a lifelong fan and had a question for Jeff about how to get on the show. When Scott asked about what makes a good audition tape, Jeff had a surprisingly candid answer.
"Great question, because everyone thinks it has to be some great audition tape," he stated in a clip posted on Instagram. "The weird thing is, Scott, we could do it right now. We could literally do your audition tape because all you need to do is say, 'Hey, my name is Scott. This is who I am.'"
Jeff added that if you want to audition, just make sure to make your tape as authentic as possible.
"For instance, if your world is about film and television, you can say, 'Look, I'm really into the cinema. I'm a shooter. I study film. I'm a father or I'm a son,'" Jeff added. "Whatever it is. But people get confused — they think they have to make some movie. You don't. Just sit in your car when nobody's looking and tell us who you are."
All right, who's ready to sign up?
