The“ Survivor 47” jury speaks!
Sierra, Sol, Gabe, Kyle, Caroline, Andy, and Genevieve answer our burning questions in exclusive pre-finale interview.
Their torches may have been extinguished, but their power in the game has never burned brighter. That’s because the jury consisting of Sierra Wright, Sol Yi, Gabe Ortis, Kyle Ostwald, Caroline Vidmar, Andy Rueda, Genevieve Mushaluk, and one more player yet to be revealed will hold the ultimate power in crowning the Survivor 47 winner during the show’s Dec. 18 finale on CBS.
Before those jurors put pen to parchment and determine who will be taking home the title of Sole Survivor and the million-dollar check that goes with it, they will pepper the final three with a series of questions designed to gauge their worthiness in the game. But why should they have all the fun? As we do every season, Entertainment Weekly now turns the tables, as we make the first seven jurors answer our questions.
What did they enjoy most about their stay at Ponderosa (where the jury stays after being eliminated)? Whom among them would they choose as a permanent roommate? Which pre-jury player do they wish had been there with them? And, most importantly, who among the jury played the best game? Read on and find out while gazing upon our exclusive finale look at the jury below.

What was the best thing about being at Ponderosa?
SIERRA WRIGHT: I loved waking up, grabbing any breakfast of my choice, a delicious cappuccino, then getting in a workout circuit or walking 20,000 steps with Sol. We legitimately counted out the amount of steps it took to walk the entire Ponderosa facility, then would hold each other accountable to complete our steps of the day. It was also refreshing to not feel obligated to have daily responsibilities. Being someone who lives and breathes by their planner, not having to answer emails, text messages, show up to work and be pulled in 100 different directions was INCREDIBLE.
SOL YI: The opportunity to solely focus on having fun and building genuine relationships with people I’m going to know for the rest of my life was the best thing. There were no phones, no work, no computers to distract you and it reminded me of being a kid again. My time at Pondy was some of the best times I’ve ever had in my life.
GABE ORTIS: The post-tribal info dumps from whoever got voted out that night!
KYLE OSTWALD: Unlimited food. And the free vacation with no distractions from the outside world. But also, that’s the downfall, because if I’m not going to be in the game fighting for the money, I would rather be home with my family.

CAROLINE VIDMAR: Ponderosa was shockingly one of the highlights of my whole Survivor experience, and hands down a big reason for that is my fellow jurors. Our Pondy Queen and King Sierra and Sol did an outstanding job setting our tone. They may have looked intimidating on the jury, but they were the most welcoming and supportive squad I could have asked for. And it’s hard to put into words how cathartic it is to debrief the game with people you just played with. Given we’d just backstabbed each other, it’s easy to be bitter, but this group of people chose to be thoughtful, lighthearted, and soooooo much fun to be around. I’m still in awe that I got to enjoy Ponderosa with such a phenomenal group of people.
ANDY RUEDA: Ponderosa was a euphoric experience; it’s exactly how it was portrayed in the old YouTube series, but somehow even better than that. It was healing in every way, and the perfect decompression from the game. My favorite part was the camaraderie of this jury group. We all went through our Survivor deaths, and Ponderosa was the heaven on the other side. It was a chance for us all to get to know each other outside the game, and to be honest, quite a few of us are different in real life than we were in the jungle. And so that time was an awesome reset, and the foundation of some lifelong friendships.
GENEVIEVE MUSHALUK: The best thing about being at Ponderosa was getting to meet my cast mates who were on the jury. Obviously, you "meet" everyone within the game, but we all hide so much of ourselves while playing — our jobs, our real personalities, our thoughts about Survivor, etc…. When I got to Ponderosa, everyone was so warm and welcoming, and the conversations with all of them were so wonderful, it gave me a new appreciation for everyone I was playing with. I wish they gave out multiple million-dollar checks because my cast is so amazing!

Which person voted out pre-jury do you wish had been with you all at Ponderosa?
SIERRA WRIGHT: I really wish we had Jon Lovett with us the entirety of Ponderosa. I thought he was seriously hysterical with his witty humor! He always made great conversation on the island and you could just tell he's a fun time. Not to mention he lives this whole other life no one knew about, and I just still have so many questions lol.
SOL YI: Jon Lovett. I spoke to Jon for like 10 seconds out there and what he had to say cracked my ass up. Obviously, he was only on one episode, but he made me laugh a lot and I appreciated his dry sense of humor when he was on. I love being around people with his personality, and it would have been fun to get to know him a little in that environment.
GABE ORTIS: Anika. She’s been great every time I’ve seen her outside the game and know she would’ve upped the already high Ponderosa vibes.

KYLE OSTWALD: TK for sure, but also Kishan. I didn’t get the chance to meet him in the game, but outside of the game he seems like someone I could get along with.
CAROLINE VIDMAR: I’ve adored getting to know Anika outside the game, and I’m so bummed we didn’t have a chance to play together. She’s an absolute blast and would’ve been a lovely addition to our Ponderosa party. I also wish we had Tiyana with us. Her vote-out was gut wrenching and it’s a shame she went home when she did.
ANDY RUEDA: I have to go with Aysha. I’m part of the RHAP world, so when I saw and recognized Aysha, I immediately had high hopes that she would play a big part in my Survivor 47 journey. She’s badass and super awesome, and we connect on a lot of different things, so I wish we had that bonding time.
GENEVIEVE MUSHALUK: Anika. She is type-A, enthusiastic, and energetic, so she would always be planning something fun for everyone. She's also really intelligent, so I could talk to her for hours and learn a lot from her!

If you had to live at Ponderosa permanently with one of your fellow jurors, who would it be and why?
SIERRA WRIGHT: Queen Genevieve! Our rooms were connected, so we would always open our dividing door, blast music, and get ready together for Tribals. Even though we didn't have too much time together, she gave me the sense of home I needed. I felt like I was just away on vacation with one of my best friends.
SOL YI: If I had to live permanently at Ponderosa with one of my fellow jurors, it would be my boy Gabe. I feel like the two of us would become bookies for the rugby matches and throw the best parties in Fiji. Gabe and I have a lot of the same interests and he’s so smart with an old soul that I love. His energy is contagious, and I always have fun when I’m with Gabe.
GABE ORTIS: Solomon Yi. We spent A LOT of time together at Ponderosa and I still wasn’t ready for it to end. That guy is a mentor, friend, brother all in one for me. I will hold the eight days we spent together there close to my heart forever.
KYLE OSTWALD: Hate to choose one, but I would say Sol. Great personality, positive attitude, and always uplifting others.

CAROLINE VIDMAR: Sol without a doubt. I am constantly inspired to grow and become a better version of myself after spending time with him. On my second day at Ponderosa, he encouraged me to do a workout with him. Never in a million years did I expect to work out immediately after leaving Survivor, but how can you say no to that icon? Sol is insightful, magnetic, and an all-around inspiring person. He is so good at hyping people up, it needs to be studied. Even today, I’m itching to hear his latest neuroscience insights and test out his lifestyle recs — the latest one I’m dabbling in is cold showers (don’t knock it till you try it.)
ANDY RUEDA: Gabe. Seriously, none of you know Gabe like we know him. He’s the most genuine and standup guy and would take a bullet for his people. He’s also an incredibly fun dude to crack open the Fiji Gold and hang out with. If you were to tell me that the guy from the pregame with the Macho Man shirt and horrible energy would become one of my best friends, I would’ve been shocked, but here we are.
GENEVIEVE MUSHALUK: I could easily live at Ponderosa for the rest of my life with Sierra and Caroline. No offense to the gentlemen on the jury, but these two women are so easy to live with, funny, and thoughtful. It would be a nice life!

Who among the jury played the best game and why?
SIERRA WRIGHT: We've got some killer players on this jury, but I have to go with Kyle. The challenge beast. The family man. We all knew we were losing to Kyle if we sat at F3 with him. He's just such a likable guy and jived with everyone. It's VERY easy to get rubbed the wrong way or annoyed by those around you when you're running on fumes, but Kyle just wasn't that person. He had all the skill sets to win this game.
SOL YI: I could argue Kween Genevieve and Andy, but I’ll say Caroline played the best game. When she came back to Ponderosa, she explained her game to me, and I was blown away. Her level of detail, strategic acumen, and self-awareness were all things I didn’t see, and that was intentional. I call her the Silencer because she sneaked her way through the game being a part of a lot of moves, but no one knew it. She could have won for sure.
GABE ORTIS: Andy. The info dump we got from him was jaw-dropping. His personality, his game, everything about the guy changed when we got to Ponderosa. (Honorable mention to Caroline.)
KYLE OSTWALD: Another tough choice. We all played a great game and gave it a buck twenty, but my initial thought here is Gabe. My dude was there to play the game, and he wasted no time finding idols and making alliances.

CAROLINE VIDMAR: I have so much respect for the game Genevieve played. She managed to orchestrate multiple game-changing moves and dodge the curse of being voted out immediately after them. When she wasn’t in the majority alliance, she was turning lemons into lemonade. Genevieve was truly a force of nature the entire season, and it’s tough for players like that to make it deep in this game. And that just goes to show how savvy of a player she is.
ANDY RUEDA: I’ll say Caroline. My first day in Ponderosa, we sat down and gave each other the full download of our games over like three hours, and that was a top moment of this whole experience for me. She’s so intelligent, and played a game perfectly designed for the new era, but in a way that is also innovative and true to her strengths. She had this idea of actively building up shields in front of her by subtly creating the conditions for them to get credit for moves, knowing that it would set them up to be knocked down. So when you see her earnestly brainstorming with someone, or cheerleading for them, that is both her genuine self but also her strategy, and I’m obsessed with that. Her final Tribal Council speech would’ve saved the planet.
GENEVIEVE MUSHALUK: I'm torn between Gabe and Caroline. I think Gabe was extremely influential while in the game, but I think he would have had a hard path to the final three. Caroline is someone who plays a game with a lot of subtle nuances, but I was always very aware of how dangerous and impactful a player like her could be. These are two people who, in my opinion, could play Survivor over and over again and get far in the game every time.
