During his performance, Eminem also took a knee, despite reports suggesting the NFL wouldn't allow him to do so.

According to reports by Consequence and Puck, the NFL rejected some elements of the proposed performance, including anyone taking a knee and one of Snoop Dogg's outfits, which apparently had gang ties, as well as Dr Dre's lyric, "Still not loving police."

However, despite the NFL's rumoured refusal, Eminem did end up kneeling in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, who first kneeled during the national anthem in 2016 to protest police brutality.

"I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of colour," he told the NFL at the time.

The former NFL star hasn't played a game of football since 2017 with kneeling remaining a controversial action.

"Once again, I’m not anti-American. I love America. I love people. That’s why I’m doing this. I want to help make America better," he also said at the time.

Eminem kneeled during 'Lose Yourself' with fans loving the tribute. One user tweeted, "Best part of the halftime show! So proud of Eminem taking a knee for Colin Kaepernick!"

"Wow Eminem holding the kneel is not an accident!!!!!!! Beautiful!" another added.

"Eminem said I'm gonna take my kneel, idgaf what the NFL has to say.. I respect it," a third wrote.

Some also thought it may have been in reference to the late Tupac.

However, according to The NY Post, NFL reps have revealed Eminem was never told not to take a knee, and that players have been kneeling since 2016 without sanctions, so musical talent wouldn't be treated differently.
