Sunrise's Sam Mac unveils 8-week body transformation: 'Inspiring'
The Sunrise presenter wanted to ditch his 'dad bod'.
Sunrise's Sam Mac has been teasing his followers with a "special project" for the last two months, with the presenter finally revealing on Friday that he was undergoing an eight-week body transformation for the cover of Men's Health.
The 42-year-old appears on the cover of the magazine shirtless, revealing he wanted to ditch his 'dad bod', working with Acero gym owner and celebrity trainer Jono Castano.
The father-of-one overhauled his diet and did 75-minute workouts involving circuit training, weights and cardio sessions.
Sam admitted it was "confronting" to see his "gut" in the mirror before deciding he wanted to make a change.
"It's hard to hide it when there's a bit of flab down there. I wasn't overweight, but I could see that there was flab there. There were too many naan breads," he joked. "It was a little confronting even for me to see because I hadn't really looked down for a while."

Sam's new diet consists of poached eggs and avocado for breakfast, chicken and salad for lunch and salmon for dinner, with snacks including fruit, carrot sticks and protein shakes.
Taking to Instagram to share the magazine cover, Sam wrote, "So… this is the 'Special Project' I’ve been working on for the past 2 months. I’m absolutely honoured to grace the cover of @menshealthau & absolutely gutted they included my “before” shot on that same cover (gutted being the appropriate term).
"I’m super excited to share the whole story behind this project next week, & the amazing team effort that made it possible."
He jokingly added, "The magazine is officially in stores on Monday, but in the meantime, take a breath & enjoy a little taste of #DaddyMac."
Fans were stunned by the pics, with one user writing, "No airbrushing, fake tan or cosmetics there @sammacinsta? Honestly, good on you for inspiring us all."
"Hard work pays off," another added. "Well done."
"Go daddy Sam. What an awesome achievement in 2 months," a third said.
"HUBBA HUBBA," his wife stylist Rebecca James commented, along with fire and heart eyes emojis.
Some complimented his new 'dad bod', while others laughed at the magazine's headline, which reads, "Sam Mac's fitness forecast: Pecs with a chance of abs."
Jono also shared the cover, writing, "The effort and hard work he put in was second to none and the @acero gang and I always had a laugh during our sessions! We really enjoyed being a part of his transformation."
