Sunrise's Mark Beretta hilariously crashes TV interview: 'Get out'

Sunrise star Mark Beretta hilariously crashed Edwina Bartholomew’s interview with US singer Rob Thomas during Thursday morning’s broadcast.

The sports presenter interrupted the chat to tell Rob, who is set to tour Australia in 2024 with his band Matchbox Twenty, that he is “a massive fan”.

“Hey, I want to introduce you to a special guest, Rob, very quickly,” Eddy told the Unwell singer. “This is Mark Beretta, he’s our sport guy. I told him I was interviewing you and he loves you.”

Mark then jumped into the frame, introduced himself and shared a funny memory from his life involving Rob’s music.

“I did Dancing with the Stars, which is an Australian show, a long time ago,” he detailed. “But I danced my slow dance to Little Wonders, your song, which was just beautiful. Beautiful song!”

The broadcast then showed a clip of Mark on the show wearing an unbuttoned white satin shirt while moving across the dance floor with his professional partner Linda De Nicola to the song.

Mark competed on the show’s seventh season in 2007, finishing in fifth place to Patti Newton, David Hobson, Anh Do and winner Bridie Carter.

'Get out'

Rob then enthusiastically thanked Mark for dancing to the song and said it was “really cool” to hear that.

“I’m glad that that song was a part of your moment,” he said. “How did you do?”

“I was terrible, but the song was great!” Mark laughed.

Speaking about the DWTS throwback in Brekky Central, David ‘Kochie’ Koch couldn’t help but laugh at Mark’s “sensual look”.

“He was basically giving that to Rob Thomas, talk about a fan moment with Rob Thomas,” Eddy joked. “Like, get out of the room Beretts, we’ve got more interview to do!”

Viewers also took to social media to compliment Mark’s dancing skills, with one person commenting: “I would dance with you any day Beretts.”

“You are a great dancer!” another added, while a third wrote, “Good effort Berrets!”.
