Sunrise's Sam Mac reveals more baby details: 'Blows my mind’

On Tuesday morning, Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac shared some sweet baby news on the show.

The weatherman was at Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park to discuss the zoo’s new lion cub. Sam couldn’t help but talk about his own cub coming along soon, telling the zookeeper Chad that he’s really excited to be a father.

“Bec is pregnant, you know 21 weeks, so it’s an exciting time, and the part that blows my mind is the scans, just being in there and seeing the movement,” he gushed.

Sunrise’s co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch asked the weatherman if the couple were planning to have a gender reveal.

Sam explained that he has a difference of opinion on this to girlfriend Rebecca James, and he’s not keen to find out the baby’s gender at all.

“I don’t want to know Kochie, as long as baby’s happy and healthy, that’s all that matters to me,” he began.

“Bec wants to know, She’s the planner. So I don’t think I’m going to win that argument, but we’ll see, we’ll see.”

Sunrise co-host Natalie Barr chimed in with her solution — for Bec to find out the gender and hide it in an envelope in the cupboard.

Kochie dismissed this idea, saying that Sam needs something more “spectacular” than that.

Fans were divided on Instagram over whether the couple should find out the gender before the birth, or if it would be better to be surprised.

“We didn’t find out. Best surprise ever!” one wrote.

“Surprised with the first and found out with the second and third. In hindsight I would have kept them all a surprise, you only get so many special surprises in life,” added a second.

“It’s still a surprise, just sooner,” countered another fan.

“I’m a planner like Bec, we found out, not one moment of regret,” a fourth wrote.
